Headed there Saturday just to fun fish.... Lay is only about an hour south of me, but we only go there once a year (sometimes twice), so I got no idea what's happening. I'm gonna catch some shallow grass/dock fish, just wondering if I should waste any time out deep? Logan and Neely are fishing totally different from each other right now, so just curious how things are one dam down.

I'm told they have closed Cedar Creek launch there at the bridge, so we'll probably go to Beeswax or Paradise. Any truth to that? Cedar Ck was about 15 mins closer for us coming from our direction, plus that ramp was never crowded, I hate that if it's true.

I'm only familiar with the one there at the bridge, where's another one? Out closer to the main river, or back in the creek? Same or opposite side?

Ben is correct on this ramp. I believe he is also right on the name...The ramp is on Mickey Lane which is off of 7 Sweet Gums Road. It is a pay ramp...$5 I believe...with a honor box at the ramp. By the way, if you don't have correct change and the store is not open, put what you have in the provided envelope with your tag number, you will have an envelope on your truck with change in it when you return. The owners are top notch! Only knock on this place is no organized parking...it's where you can how you can so get there early.

Thanks for the info guys! I Google mapped it and it looks easy, actually am familiar with it from the water once I got to looking at it. It's just faster for us coming out of Anniston through Talladega into Childersburg.

We did actually... We spent most of our day in Cedar Creek, caught probably around 20 fish total, best five might've been in the 14 lb range. All of our fish came from the grass. For us we couldn't get them to chase anything aggressive / moving (nothing on buzzbait or swim jig), but they would choke a frog. Had to move it SLOW, but they mashed it when they hit!! Caught several on a trick worm too, but the bigger fish ate the frog. Now I did have a HOG destroy a buzzbait and miss it, I grabbed that trick worm and threw right back in there and she came completely out of the water after it, and missed it too!!!! We both said she was every ounce of 5-1/2 to 6 pounds.

We got soaked mid-morning, it rained SO hard for about 30-40 mins laugh I mean you couldn't hear each other talking in the boat, bilge pump was running, and the fish would mash that frog!! We ran down around Peckerwood / Okomo midday when it got sunny and fished the old railroad and a couple of ledge places, had several fish hit, but they wouldn't eat it...just knock the snot out of it, and that was all. Well, actually we caught two small drums on a crankbait from a ledge. Went back to Cedar and punched the grass for the last 30 mins or so, but didn't catch any more.

Oh, a quick funny follow up to that big fish that I missed.... about an hour after that happened we ran that stretch of grass again (we were in sight of it most of that time, and I didn't see any other boat come in there) When we got back to that spot I made the same cast with that trick worm and just as I hit the grass edge one toilet-flushed it!!! I about fell down thinking it was gonna be that fish again, but it was just a little 1-3/4 pounder rofl

That's one of those mean fish tricks! They were chewing during that rain this morning from what we saw! I guess that launch worked out fine?

Yeah, Sunset ramp was pretty good. Somewhat limited parking, and it's a maze to get to, but it's conveniently located on the lake and the ramp itself is nice and wide. I think there were two separate small club tournaments going out of there, so it was a little bit crowded (with the limited parking)
