Eufaula and Southeast zone has been fished out bad. They didn’t even kill 1/3 of their tags last year. That new Southwest zone is going to be your best chance at getting drawn. Most tags and nobody will have priority points for that zone. SCOOBY SAY WHAT? Have they added a new zone?

I think I’ll put in for Ala River and Delta. It’d be an adventure for sure. I’d love a skull mount and a little tail meat.
You can hunt parts of the Alabama with a Delta tag ya know 😀

Tail meat and sum skull? If you draw Mobile delta, I'm sure James can't fix you up with one of his Prichard wimmens!

Wow so its a money grab. There is no new zone. The"coastal zone" was part of the Delta last year. They took 50 permits from the typical delta permit alotment of 150 and split up the zones. End result you have pay twice to hunt same area. same.number of permits Thats bogus! No chit? If that's the case Bamas been a on a Roll this year smdh

You basically lose all your priority points for half the zone.

It's absolutely amazing that some people still don't get that.

Running list, for just this spring:
— Annual, Baiting license privilege - $15 or $51 — Annual, Saltwater reef fishing license privilege - $10 per angler, charter boats $150-$250, commercial boats $200 — New gator zone - $22 application fee (one per person) - with the new zone, possibly could lose previous accumulated preference points and have to start over?
Regarding the reef "endorsement," they want to know who's fishing offshore, inshore, nearshore or wherever:
“This will give us better accounting of who is actually going offshore and taking part in the reef fish harvest,” Anson said. “Currently, we just have a saltwater license that has no designation as to what type of fishing that person will do with that license. We can contact those who purchase the endorsement and ask questions about their fishing behavior.”
So how long before we have an "inshore endorsement" so they can track folks who just go for flounder? Or a small game "endorsement" so the non-money species can get more help? Or before we have weapon-specific permits like in Tennessee, Florida and other states? Or a "turkey stamp" to help with research for why turkey populations are declining?
People say those are extremes and never will happen. But it's happening.

Most tags and nobody will have priority points for that zone. it’s not a new zone, the delta has always been called the southwest zone, they just split the zone and everything south of i-10 is called the coastal zone now.
