just got a new to me stratos 278 with a 150 evinrude. i know the mpg isnt great but im fishing a tournament tomorrow and im wanting to run about 20 miles one way to lock thru and fish for spots below a dam. the boat has a 24 gallon tank and im wondering what kind of range ill have. im gonna run wide ass open down there but i can cruise back if i need to. yall think i need to put a couple 2.5 gallon jugs in the boat just in case. i figure ill get about 3mpg but im not sure

Yeah 3 is about right. I had an intruder too.

I think you would be ok......but I’d have a gas tank if it was the first time trying it.

My tournament rig had 58 gallon capacity......made some long runs on Arkansas River where I was coming in on fumes. The more you run it the more you’ll learn the boat.

Depends.

Is it a crossflow 150? Looper 150? Ficht 150? Etec 150?

Makes a difference.

I had a Johnson 120 that got about 2 gallons to the mile!

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

My carb'd 115 Yamaha wouldn't make it on one tank of gas. Five extra gallons wouldn't make it either.

I guess I'm lucky to have a 4 stroke. My 115 will get between 7-8 mpg at wot.

I have a 175 intruder on a 285 PE Stratos. I fished a TX couple years back and boat was full. 42 gallon tank. Ran all way to bridge creek at the Ragland dam and back to Coosa landing. Took over 3/4 tank to run that day.
