Got a tournament there Saturday. Everybody I've talked to, every rumor I've heard for two weeks, has sounded like a broken record... Fish aren't primarily shallow, nor are they on the ledges, you gotta find 8-12 feet of water in between (with clean grass). Guess I'm just looking to validate or disprove that pattern? I've marked about two dozen places on my map that fit that description, but I'd rather not run new water on tournament day if I could help it. I plan to start out on a long tapering point with grass, Senko, topwater, maybe wake a big swimbait, whatever else feels right. If they aren't there then imma be spun out

I caught some good ones last Friday when I took my FIL. We caught them up in a shallow cove in 5 to 7 fow. Also caught some on a long point with grass. We caught them on a 11" worm and a big lizard. The ones on the point were in 7 to 12 fow and were bigger than the shallow fish. Wish I had more info but I dispose bass fishing almost as much as I do bass fishermen.

Thanks fellas... honestly, that's good intel. It give me enough confidence to like what I plan on doing to start with, and if that doesn't work I've got about 25 places to milk run out deep.

The absolute worst tournament performance I've ever had. I've literally never not had a limit in a tournament (and I'm 45 yrs old and fish 8-10 derbys a year), but we had TWO fish Saturday. TWO!!!!!!
Now here's the thing, we probably caught 25 or 30 fish total, and it was incredible how many of them were 14-1/2" to 14-3/4". We put in at the State Park and I fished various depths and structure in Siebold, Town, Honeycomb, and Allreds….hit a couple of main river ledges, caught fish literally at every stop, but only two dang keepers all day. And our two keepers were only 15-1/2" each, we had just over 4 lbs. The maddening part is that the 1st and 2nd place teams really did the same things we did, but they went up above Waterfront, the 1st place team actually went way back in S. Sauty. Just sounds like there was a difference in fish behavior and location further up the pond. I don't remember the exact ounces, but 1st place had upper 18's and 2nd place had lower 18's. We had four teams from 16 to 17 lbs, and several in the 11-14 range. I believe we had 24 boats (out of 40 in the club).
We got sprinkled on sporadically till around noon, and there was one serious storm about 9:30 (we were in Allreds and got under the marina dock complex)
