I'm not far from Walmart here on top of the mountain and the sirens were going off when the Monday tornado hit. Power went out just as the sirens started but they have backup power so I kept hearing them but didn't know where the tornado was. And, FWIW, I don't have a weather radio so I don't know about those warnings.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Wiley you can either install an app or something on your phone so any alert will sound over your phone. The sirens weren't going off when it came through Douglas.

Wiley you can either install an app or something on your phone so any alert will sound over your phone. The sirens weren't going off when it came through Douglas. I've been looking at a couple of warning apps. Probably go ahead with one of them. Seems like the warning siren system is offline as much as it works and for the life of me I don't understand that. Being in telecom all my life and dealing with circuits I've dealt with everything from simple modems to a ring down red phone with no dial on it that rings in the Pentagon when the handset is picked up. I just have a hard time understanding why they don't always work and/or what the common issue is. Is the system antiquated and hard to find experienced techs? If it works some times, what triggers the outages? Are the sirens radio connected or hardwired via telephone circuit?

This is why it pisses me off for people to complain about "false" warnings. I'd dang sure rather them "cry wolf" 20 times, instead of being too late on one. I suspect that people who complain about such things have never ridden out a direct hit. I have. I'm not a fan.
I strongly disagree. We damn sure don't need them sirens blowing every time a cloud comes up. Grow some balls, watch the sky, and take measures to protect your family like a man should do. Don't blame James Spann or your local EMA for your lack of manhood.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I have "Storm Radar" by the Weather Channel and the NOAA radar apps on my phone. The first gives me notifications wherever I am.
I got the WAFF app last night and then deleted it because IMO it's trash. Full of ads, videos with 15-second ads, videos were recorded. Unless I missed something it didn't seem to be useful.

I have NOAA Weather, Storm Radar, AccuWeather and our local TV station sends alerts. I was getting them all night. The sirens in Monroe County, MS, went off at least 4 times according to their county officials morning news conference. Our siren locally sounded twice. The phone apps do work well for rural areas if you have good service. We are in a rural community that is lucky enough to have a siren but generally speaking, I have recieved several alerts before it sounds.
Be kind to one another and tell the ones you love that you love them often. We never know what tomorrow will bring.

With weather radar apps we try to keep a tight to the weather when we see James Spann get down to his suspenders.

Seems strange to me that the tornado in Marshall county this past week and the tornado in Hamilton MS both hit before any warning went out. I just saw where a woman said that she had no alert on her phone and the sirens weren't going off when their house was destroyed. They have a storm shelter but they weren't in it. It's amazing that there weren't lots and lots of deaths in Hamilton MS.

Yeah they knew the possibility was good to have tornadoes but according to the report I saw no warning went out until after it had already hit. It was at night. You can’t see them at night except when the lightning flashes.
Either my apprehension for these things is real because either I don’t have the tornado protection super power that some of you have or maybe it’s because there’s been 7 tornadoes touch down on the road I live on, two of those hitting our home, in my life, or maybe that the town I live in seems to have one come very close every year or two. Maybe I just have more respect or fear (whatever some of you want to call it) for them than some of you have. Maybe it was the 7 year old dead girl wrapped in barbed wire across the road from the destroyed chicken houses that I was helping clean up when I worked in the poultry business, or maybe the ton and a half chicken litter spreader in the top of an oak tree, or the house left sitting in the middle of the road, or the asphalt pulled off the road where one crossed close to here, or maybe it was the one I saw out the window in my bathroom that ripped through spring creek at Guntersville a few years ago, or maybe it’s the one that shook our house like a leaf in the wind last year while I told my daughter that no matter what happened I wouldn’t let go of her. Maybe it’s one of those things that gets me all torn up
Or maybe it’s something that those of you who don’t face these things almost every year don’t have a clue about.
Maybe I can muster enough manhood next time to hold the walls of my house together if an F5 comes tipping through.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
