I've toyed with the idea of doing an out of state hunt nearby....particularly MS (friend has a small piece of property there and borders a WMA, would love to hunt with him) or TN (extends the season a little bit without having to travel very far).
Started looking at license costs and dayummmm. MS looks to be the least expensive of the states around here at around $180ish for a 7-day with WMA permit...I think when I looked at TN licenses yesterday, it was going to be close to $300 for a trip license with WMA permit. You guys that hunt several states, every year, must have one of those money tree's I've heard about.
...maybe next year

I’m dipping my toe into out of state hunting and going to hunt public in TN this May. It’s a small price to pay to get 4 more days of turkey hunting.

I work all year for a short time period. It’s not a problem.

Same here! I'm lucky enough to be blessed with a wife who is also my best friend and hunting partner so my license cost is automatically doubled. This year hunting at least 4 states outside of Alabama!

How much did you think it would cost? Non-resident licenses aren't cheap for deers, turkeys, elks, mooses, bears and big game.

I didn't really have a pre-set idea in my head....for a 3-7 trip license. I didn't really think anything of $130-150ish for MS, but I was a little taken aback at $300ish in TN. But, it is what it is.

A 7-day non-resident "Hunting, all game" license in Tennessee is $214.50 and an annual non-resident "Hunting, all game" is $305.
Would be higher with any WMA permits or, during deer and waterfowl seasons, any weapon-specific permits and/or stamps.
If I hunted up there more, or we ate a ton of deer meat and I wanted to kill a bunch of does, I'd buy the annual hunting.

Traveling is definitely expensive, but I look forward to my trips more than Alabama season. I’ve spent over $3k in a season just on my travels hunting public land. Licenses, travel cost, places to stay, eating out more than I would at home, adds up fast.
If you want to always win, never play anyone better than you!

I'm not saying it's not worth it, and I still want to do it at some point, maybe even make it a regular/yearly thing....just, dang.

I hunted out of state for the first time last year, and it's just one of those things you cut other stuff so you can afford to go
