Good turkey, been messed with, doesn’t like decoy or being called to. Has two hens, they come to him. Last resort: AMBUSH ? Has set up strut zone in the same spot the last two mornings at 8:30-9.

Once he leaves the strut zone with the hens he goes to the middle of a field the rest of the day! Strut zone is on the dam of a small lake, no tree to setup on, looks like the Turkey Thug seat in the bushes!

I've got one like this I've been fooling with in the same spot for 2 years. We shouldve killed him first hunt this year but he wouldn't stop and he caught movement getting the bead on him. Last week we raked a trail 200 yds through the creek bottom, flaged it with tape, and built a natural ground blind. We snuck in and were real quiet, and was set down at 5:15 this morn and he didn't make a sound. we made a move at 7 and he gobbled in the creek bottom when we got to the truck. He's been fooled with prob 15 times the last 2 years, hates calling, and won't leave the woods. I'm going to try and hunt him coming back to roost this weekend.

Just put that turkey seat on the dam, cut some limbs for cover, and make some very soft cluck. Very soft. Like he would have to be in gun range to hear them.

Then when he shows up, you can claim that you called him in. Hey, if you call, and the turkey comes, 2+2=4.

I think Ac870 should write a book from Aldeer advice! Lol, there is NO cover on the dam, very clean. Gonna try to catch him as he gets on it or leaves it.

If he’s using a field he has to come from the woods

Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

You have to play the hand your dealt. I am not above ambushing one if he won't gobble or respond to calls. It's not the most fun way to Turkey hunt but you have to do what you have to do sometimes

not if he flies from roost tree to middle of field. I've seen several that would do that and they are damn hard to kill.

I think he is roosting in some big pines on the other side of the lake. Tough place to get to unless total dark. Found his strut marks this morning about 9 on my side of the dam...30 steps from my setup. He had to do it late yesterday or early this morning. Either he is making all the right moves or I’m making all the wrong moves. With the rain I’m expecting him to be in the big field late tomorrow and I think I know where he MIGHT exit.
