I tried a Carlsons turkey tube with TSS #9's and it was too tight. Went to a Carlsons sporting clays full and it is a little too titght as well. Going to be shooting a Carlsons sporting clay modified this year.

My cheap sxs gets 300 in the tight barrel with a cheap .585 Carlson and 200 in the open barrel. Those are numbers that I like; no more testing for me.

I'm shooting a 1 7/8 oz load of #8 TSS through a .582 HS Undertaker High Density ported choke. I tried same choke in a non-ported version and all it did was flip my numbers of shot in the 10" and 20" circle. Pellet count was nearly identical just flipped.

My cheap sxs gets 300 in the tight barrel with a cheap .585 Carlson and 200 in the open barrel. Those are numbers that I like; no more testing for me. With my sporting clays full, I am getting 240 in a 10" at 43 (just the distance the target is, don't ask me why ). That is well over half of the load. That is great at 40 and even a little for range underestimation. However, at 20 yds, ALL of the pellets were in a 10" and it simply ripped a hole in the target at center. My average shot range over 130 turkeys or so, is 26 yds. Inside 30, most are NOT standing perfectly still and, at least, are "bopping" a little, some moving quickly and erratically- you know what I'm talking about! I would like to get my pattern close to your open barrel - 200 in a 10" at 40. That leaves me room for error close in and still plenty at 40+. I think the Carlsons sporting clays mod will do it.
