A5's are insanely high right now. They almost make an 1100 look like a deal.

1600 is a deal these days for something that your grandfather owned and will essentially outlast your grand children. They don't make them like that anymore, I shoot them well, but I'm not a huge A-5 guy. Credit where it's due though.

$1600 is in the realm of most Stalkers I’ve seen lately. If I had sat on all the Auto 5s I’ve had over the years, I could buy a loaded diesel right now.

If a 115 year old semi that’s more reliable than anything made since, or currently made doesn’t impress you, I’m not sure what would. LOL

I received a Franchi al48 from my grandpa. IC. love that gun but I can’t get it to feed shells into the chamber or eject…not sure if it needs a good cleaning or need a gunsmith.

I’ve got two of the new A5s and love them, but I miss my old light 12 and regret selling it!

Browning's are good guns cause folks like them. Others out their just as good or better. Most brand guns will last for generations if kept indoors in places not damp.

Everyone has their own preferences. A Franchi AL48 is an Auto 5-based gun. Browning made a super lightweight A5, for those who carried more than they shot. I had a 20ga. It was 5-1/4 pounds. Steel receivers are more durable than aluminum, and nothing is as reliable as long recoil for large cases and shotguns. It just is. There’s plenty of nice shotguns out there, that will last far longer than the average shooter needs these days. The ‘average shooter’ back when the Auto 5 was made, would put 100x more rounds (or more) through a gun every year, and often depended on them for their livelihood or survival. You have to remember, the Auto 5 served in countless wars and with LE and market hunters…..because they were reliable under all conditions and they lasted. Folks back then didn’t have light, aluminum gun needs or wants. I own and like a lot of shotguns, but most that nitpick the auto 5, are focused on stuff that remains irrelevant to what the A5 does or was built for…..or have very limited knowledge and experience with them. The M2 just keeps rolling on, as well.

Yea, not even a Belgium it is a Japan gun hence the chokes.

All stalkers/factory tubed guns were Japanese….and they’ve commanded higher prices than their Belgian versions for a few years now. Even an invector SW16 will bring more than many Belgian 16s. The Japanese gins are at least as good as Belgians made after 65.
