Protech is my favorite.... protech/Emerson went thru hell n back for 8 years till I ran it over with a dozer a couple months ago...blade is still good and the mechanics still work...im gonna send it off n get it repaired one day cuz the handle looks like a nontypical buck

Have a Gerber 06 Auto that I've carried for several years. It is a big, heavy knife but it has been through the ringer and is still one of my go-to carry knives (the other is my Benchmade). I don't care for the serrated blade but I got a pretty good deal on it (too good to pass up).

Bang for the $ is Kershaw OSO’s.

Best ‘automatic’ is a fixed blade.

I got to counting how many ESEEs I had TOD, and was shocked. LOL

Laser Strike and AGK are my current faves, but the 3s are great. Heck, an Izula is a great EDC

Benchmade or Microtech. Mel Pardue made some nice auto and regular knives for Benchmade that are classic and he’s from AL to boot.

My problem with knives is I HATE stainless blades. Give me a 1095 HC over any stainless blade.

Re: Automatic knife - 04/07/21 05:16 PM

I've carried a benchmade auto for about 14 years (the same one) in that time ive broken the blade twice (my fault totally) second replacement spring and couldn't be happier with it. It is literally with me every day and used hard (for things knives shouldnt be, lol, hence the broken blades) if theres a more bulletproof auto out there I dont need it.

I dont like a big knife, since I often have to dress a little more formal for work, the sixe of the mini reflex has been the perfect balance IMO. real world street price seems to be about $170-$190

I’ve carried Benchmade for 18 years now. I’ve carried this one on me right now for about 13-14 years. I don’t even want to try another one. I have a mini auto with the tonto blade. Only thing I’ve fought with it is it can get slow or stiff on the auto. Squirt of PB blaster fixes that right away

Autos make my big arse nervous... if it opens any faster than my BM Grizzly Ridge it better come with a spool of stitch threading and some super glue .... loosely translated as I’m too clumsy for fast moving steel 😂

I think the assisted opening Benchmades are almost as fast as their autos.
