6.8 Western. Supposed to put the 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC out to pasture. What say y’all?

First I have heard of it. Will do a little research.

Marketing hype.
Ironically, Winchester has basically redesigned the WSM case to be like the Remington SAUM case. The biggest difference is that you can now get .277 caliber barrels with fast twist rates to stabilize long, heavy high BC bullets.
Remington had the better case design 20 years ago when the short magnums were introduced, but the WSM won out because the were first to the market, had a little more speed and better marketing than Remington, as usual.

Meh, If i need a super duper , long range death ray , I'll break out a 7mm WSM , A-Bolt.

What will they invent next? The .375 H&H necked to .30 cal? Does this really do anything new?

Cause slower is better or didn’t you know ?
No you could be referring to the new cartridge that shoots a 50 grain pill and packs 100 grains of powder.....this is out of my league

The 6.8 Western is essentially a slightly shorter 7mm WSM but with a longer neck. (Granted, there's a slight difference in bullet diameter). Those original Winchester Short Magnums were not widely accepted and this new one won't be either. The 6.5 Creedmoor will continue to lead in 2021 as the most popular USA hunting round.

I think someone already had this idea a few years ago.

Watched a video on YouTube that Ron Spomer made about the 6.8 Western. Very good video with lots of information and comparisons. It looks like it will make the 270 wsm obselete.

Doubt that. I currently have gundoc building me a 270 wsm with a 1:8.5” twist barrel. I’ll be able to sling 150plus grainers out there long way. All they basically did was put a faster barrel on an existing caliber.

Seems like a terrible time to come out with anything new as hard as Ammo is to find. All calibers are just redesigned from something already made.

Ron will praise anything he is paid to promote...
