Shield vs P365

Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 12:30 PM

I’ve been carrying a Shield in 9mm since they came out and have had zero problems with it. It does seem a little hard to hold on to when shooting it but that would be my only con. I picked up a Sig P365 in a shop the other day and it felt like the grip was 10x better then the guy tells me holds 10+1 or 12 +1. I can’t get my mind off that pistol and the sights were better. Any reason I shouldn’t change my every day carry? The only thing I don’t like is lack of external safety.

Buddy of mine just bought a 365. He LOVES it.
You gonna sell the shield?

I’m in the same boat. Can’t decide between the 365 or the hellcat. The hellcat felt really good and the sights are great

Possibly. I was going to give it to one of my daughters. If I buy one I’m going to let all of my girls shoot both and go from there. I might end up buying four Sigs and it would be sold for sure.

P365 for the win. Best small 9mm I have ever tried, and I have tried a bunch of them.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 02:01 PM

I just switched to the P365 as well. Hard to beat more carrying capacity in the same concealable package. Previous CCW was XD-S .45 and have a Shield 9mm

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 02:22 PM

I tried the 365 and the hellcat and liked the way the hellcat fit and handled a little better. Both companies did an excellent job with them as far as size and magazine capacity, and I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 02:26 PM

If I were just buying one, I'd get the 365.
Since I already own a shield, I just put a $12.00 Hogue grip sleeve on it.
Make a world of difference with the grip feel.
I'd like to have a 365, but I just like my shield too much to quit carrying it.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 02:31 PM

hard to choose - Shield, Hellcat, and 365 are all great guns. Preference most likely would be determined by hand size and method of carry.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 02:50 PM

I went with the Glock 43X. I bought the shield mags that make it hold 15+1. I am carrying in a kingtuk iwb. It is my favorite so far. I want to try the cz rami 2075 and the 365 sig just to see if I like them better.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 04:06 PM

I traded in my Glock 43 to buy the P365. Great little gun, but they really gouge you on the price of extra magazines.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 04:32 PM

Between the two I'd go 365 based on feel. I personally went Mossberg because of the 3.4 inch barrel not that I'm a ballistic guru but I've seen better performance once you get past 3.25 lengths.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/09/20 08:35 PM

Sig 365 has a manual safety model as an option.

In recently sold my g43 in favor of the 365 w/manual safety. It’s the best shooting small pistol I’ve ever shot.

I’ve had a shield and it’s not even close to the same league as the 365 in any aspect.

Zero downside to a 365 over a Shield other than the price.

First mag I fired from mine at 21’ and pistol shooting is definitely not my forte.

P365 for the win!

I've had the Shield, the Hellcat, and now the Sig.

The Sig has been my favorite by a mile.

I bought a shield 9mm for $279 I think, it was under $300. What does the sig cost? Thats probably hom much difference there is. The smitty is a nice cheap conceal carry pistola. Nothing wrong with it but its a cheaper gun. Step up to a glock, step down a little to a taurus g2. Seems like to me the price translates pretty good on pistols as far as how nice they are. Alot like scopes. But I do have limited experience. Holding the three ive mentioned in your hand with your eyes closed, its hard to tell the difference.

Larry’s had p365 for 499 I think I gave around 400 for Shield when they first came out.

I have the sas and a hellcat and a 43. I prefer the hellcat. I think I would prefer the 365xl over all.

I dont have a problem with my shield. If you break into my house tonight while im asleep, thats what youll be getting shot by. I figured the sig cost a little more and is probably a little fancier

In the house that’s the last thing I’m grabbing.😬Glock 35 or shotgun depending on where I’m sleeping.

I've held all "four" (shot 3 of them own two) you mentioned, but apparently you haven't lol. And what does scopes have to do with this 🤦‍♂️😂

C’mon man.....your method of evaluating pistols is to close your eyes and hold them in your hand??

BTW- If you’d fondled the p365, then you’d know it’s a notch above the others you mentioned even in the technical eyes closed comparison 😂

Thats what I said. G2 cheapest-you can tell it. shield-cost a little more, a little better gun. Glock-cost a little more than the shield, a little better gun. Sig is gona cost the most and will be the best out of the four. Thats a pretty reasonable assessment isnt it? The more you spend the better it will be, just like with scopes. Also the truth right?

Just to throw another option out there. The glock 43x and 48 now have flush fitting mags that hold 15. They are aftermarket however.

Loving the P365 here. It came with 10rnd mags. I was able to find 12 and 15 rnd mags. The 12 is what’s in the gun now.

Sorry fellas but the future is now, its a Glock 48 or 43X with a Shield S-15 Mag and metal mag release.

They are the slimmest, most reliable fighting handgun for the foreseeable future

James Yeager hates shield arms magazines.

Ets 9 round G43 mags work in my Mossberg Mc1sc just fine.

The 43X and 48 mode S-15 using the mag release upgrade works, cannot vouch for the rest.

In the end, one has to try for themselves instead of taking any internet advice.

I went and checked out the Hellcat and yes it’s as nice as the Sig. I’m not sure if I like the horse shoe rear sight.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/14/20 06:53 PM

It always kills me what folk do for nostalgia sake.

Since the advent of the 1911 you are usually undergunned with anything less is Darwin award worthy.

If you are carrying anything for CC over .87 slide width and 16 round capacity, you are living in the past. It weighs 26 oz loaded to the hilt.

You were the first to break out a scale, whats the point of the scale? Were you trying to prove your glock weighs more than my shield? The gun you weighed is not either of the guns in question.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/14/20 07:31 PM

I just cannot reason with anyone that carry's a Brick in Forty.

Niether of the firearms in the OP are worthy of everyday carry.

Everything in the world of CC is rendered to obsolescence with the Glock 43X & 48 using the Shield S-15

You apparently cant give a straight answer to a question either. I assume you own guns you dont carry, right?

Jethro, the Post was about everyday carry.

I’m not a biased person, I take what is the best option whether thats a toothbrush over a twig or floss over a toothpick

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/14/20 07:40 PM

I’m picking up what you’re putting down Johnny.... the G48 with aftermarket mags has a 15+1 capacity in a slim, trim easily concealable package and yet has a nice 5in + sight radius for practical use.
Posted By: jwalker77

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/14/20 07:41 PM

For everyday carry, I dont think a few ounces amounts to much, if you thought so, surely you would have chosen the shield because its a few ounces lighter than your glock. But I know youd rather have the glock, I probably would too, if I had to choose between the two because its just a nicer gun. We could have come to that conclusion without the scale. Er go my question, whats the point of the scale? You just wanting to show off that 9mm brick youre toting?

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/16/20 12:46 PM

If you think the P365 isn't worthy of EDC, you must not have spent much time with one. I've run around a thousand rounds through 2-3 of them (different owners) with the 10 and 12 round mags. Absolutely flawless performance, even with mixed ammo in a mag, and great accuracy. Like, 8" plate rack rapid fire at 25 yards accuracy.

Only downside to the P365 is the mags are a little tough to load.

Re: Shield vs P365 - 08/16/20 12:55 PM

FWIW, if I cared more about concealment than a 5” sight radius and being longer than a G19, so it could get into Canada, then the 43x is all a 48 is and more, and the 365XL is better out of the box, and will always have better ergoes.....factory 12/15rd mags....and/4oz heavier, or an extra set of keys. Slim is nice, but sometimes it’s no issue to be a tenth wider or so....G26/27s with a G19 mag adapter fill a hand pretty good, and carry a lot of firepower. If Glock or Sig came out with a 45 on the 43x/48/365XL platform, that’d be cool, too.....some Kahrs are there on slim and ergo, too...but some have issues with them being Kahrs. wink
