Glock 17 Range Report...

I got the G17-5 Friday at Larry’s in Huntsville (thanks Roadkill for the excellent customer service). FYI - they had 9mm range ammo in stock. Word is that everyone is out of it, but Larry has connections that most dealers don’t have, thus he has ammo. Anyway, I shot the 17-5 Saturday morning, and ran 100 rounds through it. It shot very well, with zero issues. My second 50 rounds was shooting the FBI special agent qualification, and shot 98% - see pic below.

An interesting comparison - my loaded XD9SC, with a 17 round magazine, weighs 1.5 oz. MORE than the loaded G17-5 with a 17 round mag. I’m surprised that the XD weighs more, but it is what it is. Carrying this Glock is great, no issues whatsoever. And I’ve got a current holster that the G17 fits very well in, so I don’t have to spend any extra $$$ for a new holster. All in all, I believe I’m going to REALLY like this new Glock.

Good shooting - nice gun. I really wish I could get along with Glocks. Have had a 17, two 19s and a 43. All were great guns, just not for me. Glad I could be of assistance and if I can do anything else let me know.

How far away,and is that vitals target a life size representation?

And the internet warrior strikes again.

A stream light tlr2 high lume and stick mag OEM is a nice addition to one. That mag will actually improve shooting, believe it or not.That light laser comes off easy and keeps zero. Plus, one you get it zereod, you can put it on another Glock and be good to go.

Outback I took your advice and got me one of them 1911's. They're cool to look at but you better find the right ammo or you can't hit chit with them.

Outback is like a woman wearing ridiculous high-heels...........he's more concerned with looks and aesthetics than actual real-world function. He just wants to impress all the other Fudds at the gun range

What backstrap did you go with? I like them beavertailed backstraps myself.

Don't know if you're aware but Glock has round indicator you can use in the dark

I tried out all four backstraps, and ended up using the Medium size without the beavertail. That Medium just fit my hand the best, and was the best of the four that seemed as if it weren't an add-on. The only other thing I am planning to do to that G17 is add night sights. Leaning towards the Ameriglo Bold Night Sights, but may change my mind after Outback replies and tells me how much those suck!

Send it to Smyrna and get Glock factory night sights installed for $70. That’s cheaper than you can buy just the sights on the interweb.

Those standard Glock sights should be banned.....
