Nics delay.

As luck would have it I got delayed on a Winchester sx4 hybrid shotgun I won in a raffle,and I’m not really complaining because I’ve got $20 tied up in it. On the same hand I am complaining that on March 20yh The ffl mdi message said he can give me the gun April 9th if no response. I thought the law was 3 days after no response on a delayed response. I always get delayed but it’s never been almost 21 days. What’s going on with this and what does it even mean. I’m clean other than a youthful offender alcohol charge 11 years ago. I can post the message that from the atf or nics or whoever it’s from if it’s safe to do but I’d rather not.

That's strange, last week the NICS center sent out an email to FFL holders notifying us of delays in getting back to us on "DELAY" responses, but in the same email they also reiterated the fact that is was OK to transfer the firearm 3 business days after the "DELAY" was received.

If the response was received on Friday the 20th, you should be able to pick up the gun today, as 3/23 - 3/25 would have been the required 3 days.

Sounds like the FFL dealer/transfer is delaying you not the govment as gundic said

Why would he? I know him fairly well and he knows me from work and the raffle was for a mutual coworker. I can’t think of any reason but maybe y’all have dealt with some like that. Just no gun until the feds say ok. I think academy and will he like have that policy

I'm not sure about all your details or dealings but normally they have 3 days they can delay you after that they have to give it to you if they weren't able to find a reason in your background

Delaying you for that long is definitely not normal policy.its yes or no in 3 days.never heard of anything like your dealing with.you must have a very common name to alot of criminals??lol

Just got new policy emails today, and none mentioned more than a 3 day delay

Academy's policy is such, they won't release a gun until they get a reply.
