Thanks to the wisdom of Aldeer my daughter has bought her husband a Ruger American 30-06 for his birthday.I am going to contribute a Nikon Buckmaster scope I have in the safe and pay for base/rings and mounting. What ought I buy.

Talley lightweights. Combo ring and base.

I also vote for Talley light weights. Unless they plan to use the bases that came on the rifle. At that point I'd go with Leupold PRW
I had that same rifle, and sold it. Wish I hadn't. That thing would stack 165gr Hornady ammo
