Decent deals on AR? - 05/27/18 04:59 AM

Are the deals over? I know a couple of months ago you could buy the Sport II and Ruger AR-556 for 500 or less. then a couple of school shootings....... is it just a pipe dream to get a deal on a no frills AR these days? Particularly the S&W variants?

I picked up a Smith M&P15 optics ready with the Magpul M-LOK handguard.

As usual, Simmons for the win. Good selection, good price, good people. WAY far out of my way. but worth it.

If you are interested in an AR, do NOT buy off the rack!!!! Unless you are buying a high end AR (Daniel defense, noveske, etc.). The truth is that 80% of new AR owners wish they had shopped more. They end up changing out triggers, grips, hand guards, stocks, etc... In the end you will spend much much more by buying a basic AR and you will have a box of useless stuff in a box that you don't need. I build AR's myself and have seen this mistake many times. You can go to gunbroker and find several who will customize your lower for you. Uppers are easy. Go to primary arms, brownells, ghost firearms, or midway USA and file through what they have. It really is very easy to put an upper together too. Thanks to the magic of YouTube. Good luck and enjoy. Nothing quite like and AR!!

Remember...Black Guns Matter.

pretty funny how these suggestions come in AFTER i say that I bought one.

It's cool though. I wanted to buy a gun... not parts of a gun. I have never owned an AR. I have shot them, but never owned. I didn't want to build one. That may come later. Maybe.
