How are the Zeiss Terra for the money?

I've only handled one, but the glass was very clear. I don't know how well it will hold up to recoil though. I would figure it's as good or better than most in it's price range

IMO it's terrible in low light compared to several other scopes in that price range. I took a girl hunting who had one on her gun. I could clearly see details of deer in the field through a vx2, but looking through here you couldn't even pick the deer out.

Is there not some light transmission "scale" that can be used for this kind thing? It's amazing how different people's perspectives are.

It's not as clear or good at low light as the conquest. You get what you pay for.

I have a 4-12x50 on a bull barrel AR. The crosshair seems to drift around in about an inch and a half circle at 100 yds when you move your head around when looking thru it. My Conquests and Diavari and Leupolds don't do that.

I've got three of them and I've been very happy with the terras. All of the guns that I actually hunt with have them on there. They will get you past legal shooting light.

Marks has a 4-12x50 for 259 right now

If the parallax is only 1/2” @ 100, and onlydoes it when you move your head around, put your cheek back on the stock and count yourself lucky.

One inch and a half circle = too much for a target rifle

I have two, and they are on par with my VX3s and VXRs in terms of clarity and light transmission, they take a few more shots to zero though. Very comparable to the conquests of 6-8 years ago.

Missed the ‘one’ and didn’t know you were using a Terra with no AO for a ‘target’ scope. Still, a good cheek weld and it’ll probably never matter, and most will never know anyway. If you’re merely concerned that the parallax is set beyond 100 or just bad at 100, I’d agree. If you’re saying that parallax in and of itself is a defect, then I’m not sure. Often, the ocular and focusing the crosshairs will eliminate parallax. I’d be irked, too, but it probably wouldn’t matter on a hunting rifle, and I’d look for an AO scope for target specific uses. JMO.....and not defending the Terra line, just not sure if what you describe is a defect, since external/user factors can influence that.

Well I went with a Leupold VX3i. The price of the Terra caught my eye briefly, but the history of Leupold got me.

I agree I need an AO scope but it seems to move more than other non AO scopes I have for some reason.

I bought one when they first came out. Didn’t like the low light performance and traded it off.
