I guess you could also use them if a screw comes loose.

Ive seen those before and don't understand the purpose behind them. Looks like a case for over penetration to me.

They raid the drill bit section at Lowes?

From what i understand about them, the way the bullet is made cause a hydraulic effect in soft tissue making the wound channel larger. It does this by directing the tissue expansion away from the bullet with the cut of the tip. Like wind moving around a wing of a plane.

Look on Underwood ammo site. They are called extreme penetrators

The reviews of Ruger/Polycase ARX projectiles are all favorable (that I've seen). Especially the ballistic gelatin tests.

I've got some Ruger ARX polymer rounds for .380, .38SPL, and 9mm. I've shot them at paper. POI difference between them and standard weight rounds isn't too bad at defensive pistol shooting ranges.

I'm kinda convinced on them. For 11ty billon years the hollowpoint was king, evolution seems to have caught up with it. I still wanta see real world results but Black Hills has them in their Honey Badger lineup and tge Hoffmans wouldn't do that unless convinced.

Re: What the heck - 09/14/17 11:29 PM

I would be scared to use them as a protection round due to over penetration unless you were trying to shoot 2 guys. That's always a concern right? What's beyond your target and with these you really have to worry about that.

Exactly what I said "a over penetrating round". Yes they will kill and keep on killing after the pass through. Very dangerous for innocent bystanders if you have to fire on someone. I don't really see myself getting in a fight with an armored car so I wont be buying any. The hollow point still remains king for stopping power.

Re: What the heck - 09/15/17 07:57 AM

I see and agree with your point. If you remember Perch's post on bullet tests and expansion however most of the projectiles went anywhere on average from 10"-16" if I remember correctly through multiple calibers. If that's the case, your assailant would have to be morbidly obese in order for the bullet to not get a pass through. So I believe with any caliber you run the risk of over penetration.

Dynamic vs static. No test equals real world experience.
