If you're going to shoot 3" turkey, duck or buckshot and not have a scope or reddot you will change your mind quick. That stock will break your cheek bone if you just use a bead or barrel mounted sight. I like it now that I have a red dot and don't have to get right down on the stock. I couldn't have pulled the trigger again without it.

Personally, I can't stand them. I prefer a regular stock.

not hardly. I have to guns with em and their fine with a bead sight. BUT, I'm left handed and that might play a part in it too. I like em, but all I use em for is to kill turkeys.

That raised spot will break your cheek bone for a right handed person if you get right down on the stock. I'll shoot any gun and am not recoil shy in the least but I've never experienced that kind of pain from a gun. I was too dumb quit at one shot so I shot it two more times to make sure until it had me numb and eye nearly swollen shut.

I have a regular camo stock you can have. I shoot the 3 1/2 and there's no way in hell I'd shoot with a regular stock. Shut shot is the real deal. gun

I have a regular stock on my 3.5" 12 ga. If it's Mossy Oak breakup and will fit an 870, I'll take it.

I'm probably going to change it out and will offer to sell the Shur Shot when I do. I've never changed an 870 stock. I think you need a special tool.

Didn't need one for mine.

a phillips to get the recoil pad off and a screwdriver to remove the stock screw.

the supermags setup with the raised rifle sites/red dot do fine with that cheek piece in the stock because line of sight is elevated and your head position is proper.

I agree with bill though, for RH shooting at least, if you're changing out one on a regular 870 with the bead or you've added the slip-on fiber optic, I can't get low enough and once you do, it'll bust your cheek for sure.
