Grandma’s Pound Cake. - 01/09/20 11:35 PM

Saw a recipe here a while back for pound cake cooked in iron skillet made it and it was delicious. Now I can’t find it (should have made a copy). Anyone have it or can help me find it again. Thanks

I wanted to hat tip whoever had posted it but I couldn’t for the life of me remember who it was. I appreciate you posting it up. It’s a great recipe.

Can it be mixed by hand or would i need either a hand or stand mixer?

Dont have either at the camp but this could be a good substitute for the crock pot dump cakes I make often.

I made it last weekend, I mixed everything with a wooden spoon, doesn’t get anymore old school than that. Lol Turned out awesome! Thanks,BGD

I’ve got this in the oven right now and it smells delicious. Really looking forward to trying it out.

Had it with some strawberries and whipped cream and it was fantastic! Much better than the Paula dean recipe my wife and I had been using and much easier. Thanks for sharing!

cool man! Mrs Grissett hailed from Atmore, AL & you can thank her for this wonderful recipe; she passed away a few years ago, God rest her soul ... i can only imagine what her other cooking must've tasted like; i got this recipe from her son in late 2018 & immediately tried it out ... i found & sent him an old dutch oven as a "thank you" for this recipe; a good trade, in my book

get ready for a sugar overload; it's potent ... when i cheat on keto w/sugar, i get punished - really bad headaches for several days ...

Wife cooked it, I have had two slices and told her to throw it away. She asked why and I told her I would be up sometime in the middle of the night finishing it off. It is still in the skillet siting on the stove wrapped in foil, please Lord let it make it to the morning. Wife is talking about blueberries and strawberries with it for breakfast, can’t wait.

Re: Grandma’s Pound Cake. - 02/08/20 09:22 PM

I tried to make one today using Splenda instead of granulated sugar , went well till added the flour and it thicken till it would not pour, did not give up took hand and smeared it into greased skillet and put in oven 30 minutes later it was done, about a 1/2 thick, but still tasted good. What is a diabetic going to do? slap
