Gunpowder seasoning

Any of ya'll tried it? And how was it?

I've used it on some grilled wings, thought it was pretty good. Need to do some more or a whole chicken with it.

I use it quite often. I like it. I mix it with a few other things for my dry rubs.

I use it a lot.....it's really good on eggs.....fried or scrambled.

I use it a lot also, but i use a blend made locally from South Alabama

Its really good on a ribeye

I use sure shot sid’s a lot

How does it compare to souther flavor?

It is a very similar product to Southern Flavor.
Put it on a steak and you will be happy.
Don't be shy with it either.

The kind from Star Market is good on steak

I sprinkle it on tomatoes and cucumbers.

It gives me heart burn.

I prefer salt and pepper only.

I think this seasoning blend actually originated in India, but in the US commercial variants are some sort of a bastardized version, of lesser quality, and usually chock full of monosodium glutamate which is where they get all the "flavor" from.

There are tons of homemade recipes online, but most will require you to venture out to the nearest local Indian/Asian market for a few exotic ingredients. And also require you to obtain a mortar and pestle to grind up some of the stuff.

Mrs. Irish really likes trips to the Indian/Asian/Mexican markets, so you guys got me wanting to make some now. Plus I need to make some batches of some of my other rubs and spice blends too, such as my Butt Rub, Chicken Rub, Steak Seasoning Blend, etc... So maybe a day spent smoking on the Kamado and blending some spices is in order.

I know the guys who make this in St. Clair county. It's good stuff.

Ive used it pretty much exclusively for the past 4 months. So far all my friends and family are on the band wagon and using it for everything

I always use it when we do cabbage that and butter I haven’t tried it with anything else
