Food around Auburn and some Atlanta.... - 07/23/19 02:28 PM

This place is really close to my work, and it an amazing value for the money. I get the bento box lunch ($11.99) for spicy squid, the array of Korean banchan (appetizers), a couple of tempura veggies, a pot sticker, 4 california rolls, some salad, and a cup of miso soup.

Found another spot that has thai-style chicken gizzards....man were they good

I always love going to Bow and Arrow when I get the chance. Excellent open pit BBQ from turkey to brisket to ribs. All VERY good...

A new chinese bao place in town even did a coll-bao-ration with them to put some of the brisket/turkey/pork from Bow and Arrow into the baos. They were amazing and full of flavor!

Occasionally my wife and I go by Acre for dessert, which the food is good there too, but we don't eat there on the regular. The dessert and drinks at the bar is always a good way to close out a date night though. This was hands down the best slice of peanut butter pie I've ever had. It had chocolate truffle sauce, torched banana meringue, and a homemade peanut butter cookie.

If you're in Auburn, stop in and get the best burger I've had in a long time at Shelia C's burger barn!

We have a guy that works on our tanks in fisheries that is from Venezuela, and his wife occasionally makes homemade empanadas that are like nothing I've ever had. Light, fluffy, full of flavor and they come with this cilantro garlic sauce that is so good I can just do shots of the stuff. They do chicken, beef, and pork. The chicken are the best to me.

Recently went to Atlanta to eat some good food with a friend, and this trip never disappoints. I look for the most authentic places I can find, and when I show up and I'm the only white guy, I know I'm in the right spot. This trip involved a trip to a Chinatown Food Court, with 6 different food stalls, each having a specialty. I immediately went to the BBQ hon-kong style place and got some roast duck, pork, and smoked duck tongue. I won't be having any more duck tongue, EVER, but I tried it!

The next place was to get mofongo, a Puerto Rican dish consisting of fried and mashed plantains, garlic, pork rinds, and some salt. Served with fried chicken and/or pork/shrimp.

I also went to a legit cajun restaurant to get a cajun fix. I had redfish louisianne.

And finished up the weekend at a proper dim sum place. I love these places.

Glutinous rice with chicken and mushrooms

I hope you're all nice and hungry by now. I'm going to Bow and Arrow for lunch to satisfy my BBQ craving.

Looks awesome. I've been wanting to try the Korean place in Auburn but every time I'm down there no one else wants to go.

Is the AU bao place the one that had the food truck? Our son said you have to get there early early early to get in line and they sell out quickly. I hope their brick store works out.

The homemade empanada looks great.

I have a hankering for a trip to Buford Highway and a food crawl, Thai and Korean for sure. No duck tongue, though.

Get up with me and i'll eat Korean with you. Plus, I need to pick your brain about outdoor writing anyways.

Yes, the food truck is "Dumps Like A Truck" and the brick and mortar joint is called the "Irritable Bao." I know, horrible name for a food place, but it is good and the lines are very long.

Not sure, I don't think I saw any, but there's no telling. I would bet some sort of Asian country.

Possibly Vietnamese. It's been a while since I've been on the highway looking at everything. I don't believe Chinese, Korean and Thai use crawfish as much as the Viet, though. Never have seen them on any of those menus.

You sure it wasn't coonasses slid in from Louisiana whipping up mudbugs? laugh

Just went back to find exactly where I was at, Doraville, not Buford.

This was the most elaborate, but there are several

If you like good authentic Mexican food, La Plaza on N. College.
It is directly behind Jacks.
