What is your #1 goal this upcoming season?

Mine is to get my 5 year old his first gobbler. I'll be ok if he is 6 before he gets his first since his birthday is April 8th.

To limit out in AL and NE.

To have fun, not piss my wife off to bad, and hopefully hear a few more turkeys than last year. I've heard more turkeys on a single hunt before than I heard all of last year I believe.

Get my daughter a grown up rather than a jake this year....

To get out as much as I can and have fun. If flopping birds come with it so be it.....if not I will still be happy

To get Jackson (an 11yr old boy with brain cancer) his first turkey!

Thanks bud....we are having a youth turkey hunt through Kidz Outdoors and he's coming from Louisiana so maybe the good Lord will help us out youth weekend! I told him I'm gonna have em so fat he can chase em down and kill em with a bat! Lol

Same every year. Get close enough to one drumming and gobbling loud enough to feel it vibrate the ground. The rest is just bonus.

That's not to hard usually, what I want is 10 new pairs of spurs come mid may.

To hopefully kill my first ever bird.

To get my dad a limit. And maybe kill a few myself along the way.

To kill another double spurred turkey. Should've mounted the first one.

To find a few more public land buck holes while wasting time chasing a souped up chicken.

To kill ThunderDrum......if a bobcat or coyote or old age or some outlaw hasn't already. I know he was alive and well at sunset on April 30.
Come to think of it, I'd be satisfied to figure out a way to try to get him in range for Jughead Jr and let him go ahead and get him out of the breeding pool and tote him out on March 8. I'd just as soon that sumbuck not spread any more of his evil seed on my turkey place.

Id love to limit out here in tennessee, but with having to drive 45 min-1-1/2 hr to find a huntable population of birds helps prevent that. I am always happy with one but extremely happy with anymore than that.

One day the stars will line up and I will be able to go on an out of state hunt.

No way ill get to double digets myself this Spring. Im going to hunt with my dad a godd bit this year. He's lost his hearing in one ear for the most part, and I want him to keep killing birds, so hopefully between the 2 of us we will hit double digits.

Plus ya cant beat a hunt in the turkey woods with your old man.

To take Yekrut turkey hunting so he can kill all of my turkeys and I can deer hunt his place in TN again next season

To hear one drumming, I think I lost that part of my hearing. I could hear them from 80 yds or so until last yr!

Number two goal.....get a turkey killed somehow within the first 5 days of season for the first time in my short career...in hopes that I can be more relaxed and hunt better when we get to prime time.

My goal is to figure out the Haint. I cannot blow that joker for anything. Although I will say I took a break practicing and applied the same concept on the Primos gobble call, and it sounded decent.

Would love to kill my Bama limit but I'd take just gettin to dance with a few. Would also love to go to some of the OOS places that I get invited to every year but never go.

I just want to have some great hunts and possibly limit out.

I want to be able to put a friend of mines son, who is 15 years old on his first turkey ever and finally put the smack down on the this ole gobbler that I have been after for the past three years. I have had many close encounters with him to the point that he is taunting me now. He even flew up in a tree next to me early on in deer season and gobbled not 20 yards away. I know he knew I was there. Have a three videos of this same bird but always stayed just out of range, except for the one day that got up to go see where he had gone for him to only circle all the way around me and attack my decoy while was looking for him where he had been. This is his last year, I promise.

I hope by mid April when I get time to go down there that I am just going to call for someone else anyways.

I keep looking for these dumb 2 year olds I hear people talk about but I have a really hard time finding them.

^^^Keep looking and here is how it will happen. You will be sitting there on private land calling and 2 or 3 two year olds will come running in with no regard (like a bunch of jakes) and you will bust one. You will feel ok but it's kind of like kissing your sister, it's a good gesture but not fulfilling.

Odd analogy

I don't know if I'm just not very perceptive or if I'm just an oddball or if I just don't know a whole lot about turkeys, but I've never really been able to definately correlate a turkey's age with the amount of difficulty involved in killing him.
Course I've never really gotten to hunt turkeys in Alabama or Tennessee that would qualify as being "non-pressured"
It's hasn't happened to me very many times, but the turkey in the picture below was one of those that actually tried to "run me over" I shot him at about six or seven steps after he finally made me out and turned and took off running the other direction. This was right at the end of the Tennessee season last year. According to where he lived, I'd say he lived a good part of his life on public land. He also spent enough time close to a blacktop road that I would guess that he got called to from the road about everyday and probably shot at a couple times. I know if you ever drove by him and slowed down that joker would run like he had been kicked in the arse end. I just caught him on the right day.

I don't think he was a 2 year old. I used to think turkeys were real smart. The longer I hunt them the more I'm led to believe that a lot of them are just crazy, age not withstanding.
I've honestly never been able to tell much of a difference between public land and private land birds either. Once they get fooled with a time or two they all get pretty nervous.

Brent- Don't get caught up in the length of those spurs, jakes have those long ones too sometimes.

When you can pet turkeys on public land you'll understand the mindset of 2 year olds.

Good goal, but I think you've got the order reversed IMO.. After you get one or ten, you'll be in a better place to get him one. Either way you'll have fun.

My number one goal is to spend a little more time with my boys in the woods and make it enjoyable for them. I want them to not feel pressured being out there and remember the fun they had.

Killing any longbeard has always felt more like kissing a cheerleader to me.

Chase as many as I can and have a blast doing it.

It's a rough game. Let one of the local Jackson county experts come help you. You'll cut the learning curve in half by allowing someone who knows what they are doing hunt with you.

My goal is to just have fun. This involves me killing 2-3 birds, dad killing a few, and getting to spend a lot of time chasing gobblers.
With my work I don't get to go much so I just like getting to go. Also don't have any places that is a guarantee see or hear a bird.

Tag out in TN and Al with the 410 this year. I also want both daughters to put ones eyes out.

He has been my mentor for a year, so I think its time for the student to teach the master a thing or two.

Good luck with that pal. I thought I was getting somewhere with my turkey hunting year before last when he only killed one more bird than I did. He showed me who was still boss last year though.

I jinxed myself last year by saying before season that I had never missed a bird. Guess what happened on the first bird of the year? After that life lesson, I've started thinking hard before I say anything.

Pal if there was ANYTHING I could teach you about a turkey, it would only be because you're getting old and you might have forgot something. It dang sure wouldn't be 'cause you didn't never know it to start with.
Every turkey I can ever remember you getting mad at always ended up slung across your shoulder in just a day or two.
