Saturday bird - 04/16/24 12:47 PM
Don’t get to hunt consistently and it’s been a few years since I’ve killed a Tom but it clicked Saturday morning. Actually had 7 come in . I would consider all of them Toms since they all had fairly long beards . The bird I killed had a large bare patch on his breast . Is that from breeding, strutting, fighting, disease , or all the above ?

Strutting, every time I clean one they’ll have a callus on their breast bone

And calling in 7 - thats awesome
Called in flocks - lot of hens and gobbs - called in gobbs leading hens in several times - but i aint never called in 7 long beards at one time. Years ago when i had awesome spots i remember calling in 5 at diff times - aint never called in 7 mature
Nice - congrats

This, rests his breast on the limb while roosting.

Tdog93 I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I figured by now they would be broke up into single or maybe twos but not 7 ! Just wish I’d had it on video !

If he’s breeding enough to have a callus, whew! 😅
