Uphill or downhill - 03/24/24 08:50 PM

Will he come up the hill to you or down the hill? Opinion and why? Got bird roosted this morning on the side of a hill and I can come in below him or above and not sure which one to do.

I would get above him based on the limited information

Above him. He can see down the hill and not see a hen. But he can’t see over the hill

Is he roosting in the same tree or ridge? I would try to stay level or above him.

Set up above and he still may try to get the high ground on you. They generally come up hill a little easier , why , they just do.

Yeah , how far he can see is gonna make a big difference no matter what the setup is . If I can see over 35 yards I don't like it

First morning I’ve heard him so I’m guessing just that ridge. Wish I had more information. I’ve got below them a lot with no success so was wondering what y’all’s thoughts where.

Gobblers are like Civil War generals…they want the high ground.

I had one last year I had the high ground on and he wouldn’t come up hill. Ended up getting close to even with him and he came 30 yds above me. You never know they are turkey’s.

some thing ive seen a few times . ive called from high spots like that and he'd go a different way . if i had time to kill id just set there a couple hours then call a little and have one show up. you have to watch though he may not make a sound .

he'll hear you he knows you're there and he'll be thinking about you .

Doesn’t matter. Just have to get between him and where he wants to go.

I’d rather be on same level or above him if possible

Same level if I can. Otherwise whatever the situation is it doesn’t matter to me
