Looking into another .410. Looked at the stevens 301 and the daly 101 side by side and the 101 is shorter and definitely lighter, I like the internal hammer to. Anyone have one and willing to give me any input?

I’ve got one that patterns well. Triggers ain’t the greatest but it works. BrentM has one also. He will chime in shortly. They are a dream to tote.

All true turkey guns need their triggers worked

A cva scout won’t need a trigger job. But they aren’t the lightest. Or cheapest option. They do come with a jebs choke and a rail mount ready for optic. So that helps with the price. They pattern lights out from factory.

I thought the trigger on the 301 was pretty good.

So how do you guys that have the Charles Daly 101 think it would work for a 7 yr old's first shotgun? A 20 gauge is more useful than a 410 and I can load 1/2 oz shells for now that don't recoil any more than a 410, and they will cost a lot less. So I was thinking about a 20 gauge with a hardwood stock so we could saw it off and make the LOP suitable for him. I think he would do a lot better with the internal hammer and not have to cock it, but I don't know about the quality of these. Looks like they are only $120, so not a very big investment.

I have been wanting to get one of these myself. Just haven’t.

I have had the hardest time making myself tote a 410.
I did use my 28g a lot this year and enjoyed it a lot.
