I just put 21 inch barrel on mine, took the 26 inch off. I'm going to be using the IC 562 same as I had
In the 26 inch.

I use a Carlson 575 in two different 870s. One has a 21” barrel, the other is 18.5. Both make great even hunting patterns.

I suppose I should have added that I shoot 1 5/8 oz of 9s out of the 21”, and 1 3/8 oz of 9.5s out the 18.5.

Promos tightwad .575, 1-5/8 oz. 9s, hammers them up to 44 yds but I have missed 2 birds at 52yds the past 2 yrs so it must be too open past 45ish

I use the older RSF .570 that is rated for hevi-shot and such. I reckon people have no problems with that newer RSF .572 (says lead only) and get great patterns with it too.

Factory full. There is such a thing as getting a pattern too tight. A fellow, well versed, turkey killin machine taught me this.

I used a jelly head for mine but never really patterned it and it killed em out to 40-50...

I've used and had good luck with RSF, IC.562, and IC555 chokes. None of them have produced the super tight pattern I'm looking for. You can't get a pattern too tight, so my search continues.

How tight you want ‘em? I’ve counted >350 T-9 pellets (1-5/8 oz) in the 10” at 40 yards, shot through both my RSF and IC .555. I have only one other 20 ga that will top that and rarely take it to the woods.

Mine has never shot that tight consistently with true 9s. In a perfect world, all of my shot would be in the 10" at 40 yards.
