Anyone hunt there?

Yes. 1st week the birds were pretty hot. Decent hatch last year with some Jake's running around. Everybody that I know that knows how to hunt shot 2, so I guess it was a good year. Don't know how the late season was cause most everybody shot out by then or had other stuff to do.

Hate to hear that. Were you North of 70 or at least within the corridor. Seems like that last week is always better up there (especially north of 36). Plus, it is a heck of a lot easier to hunt stubborn birds when they aren't in thousands of acres of timber.

We were in south eastern Missouri. Weather is what made it tough. Rain and wind. We had storms come through 2 days in a row that took out hundreds of trees and blocked most all access roads.

I know 3 different groups of southern hunters from Ms that did not kill a bird in Missouri. There hunting area ranged from
West central to southeast.

Been hunting the Missouri Ozarks for the past 13 springs. Combining the bird numbers and hunting pressure, it was the worst spring I've seen. Got 1 and I was danged proud of it because a lot of non-res didn't fill a tag.

I very rarely hunt public in Missouri. Mostly when I was away at college and just if I want a challenge or special hunt. Hunting for the best scenery and being able to fish or canoe I'd choose the Ozarks. But If I was going to kill birds.and.had.a.short time frame I would head farther North. The Ozarks are tempting but if the birds aren't gobbling you're screwed. As for Southeast Missouri I think most of you are probably going more central to South Central. For us locals we mostly consider highway 67 east SEMO. Not that outsiders agree.
