4/25 LFTW - 04/25/20 09:25 AM

Got the invite to a buddies club for this morning. 68, overcast, and muggy as hell. 9000 acres and 5 groups hunting. At least we will have from you roam. Supposedly they got turkeys, and might have one pinned down in a cypress head. We will see.

I’m here. Trying to be positive but I haven’t sat down on a bird in 2 weeks.

Snuggled up against an oak tree in a hardwood bottom. Good luck everybody! There are a couple of birds hanging around so we’ll see if they gobble. WOW!! just heard 1st bird at 543 but waaaaay off.

One gobbles 10-12 times hit the ground not a peep I’ll sit here awhile

Re: 4/25 LFTW - 04/25/20 11:51 AM

I hate pasture birds. They won’t act right and if you can’t hunt the pasture most are hard to kill.

Nothing but a couple of hens. We have killed 13 off our club. I think the party is about over.

Re: 4/25 LFTW - 04/25/20 11:52 AM

Gobbled a few times on the roost hit the ground before I could get to him. 1 screw you gobble on the ground and nothing since.

I hate rain, and no gobbling turkeys

Been here since 5 with not a peep. Muggy, cloudy. Sun trying to pop out hoping something makes some noise. Good luck gentlemen

Fixing to give it a try. I've called in one this year and a bobcat jumped my decoy before he was close enough

Congrats on snapping the dry spell. There is no way I could go one year without killing one so I’m not sure how you did that. I would just have to hunt them year around until I snapped it I guess. smile

Re: 4/25 LFTW - 04/25/20 02:52 PM

Had one gobbling but he had a hen roosted with him so u know how that ended up. I made a big loop trying to strike another bird with no luck. I’m back in same area hoping this earlier bird gets lonely here soon and comes looking for me.

Wasn’t a textbook hunt bc he hung up about 120 yards out .I had to close the last 70 yards inch by inch in a briar thicket ,but finally connected on a stud triple beard . it has truly been an unbelievable year. got to hunt 4 states and killed 4 multibearded birds .

Re: 4/25 LFTW - 04/25/20 06:37 PM

Played cat and mouse with one for an hour and a half. Had to leave him gobbling cause my buddy had to leave at 11.

I did manage to whack this harmless water snake on the head with a stick

Re: 4/25 LFTW - 04/25/20 08:03 PM

Went back after the one that gobbled about 100 times Monday. He was on the same knob this morning at 7:15 - gobbling his head off- across the property line about 100 yards. I just aint got the intestinal fortitude to go get him I guess. He will not budge off that knob. Finally stopped gobbling at 9 am when a couple hens showed up and took him with them. Made sure to count the gobbles this morning. 57

Nothing wrong with having integrity.

Go back around 11:00 am-1:00 pm if you are able.

Quiet here in Macon County. Have been out here all day and not heard a peep. Have seen hens presumably on the nest, bit no gobblers. Will stick it out until dark and then try again tomorrow.

Thank you sir it’s definitely been one for the books , makes up for some of those years I struggled from bad set ups , blown opportunities ,and non vocal birds .

I think you have that a bit backwards, you DO have the intestinal fortitude to do the right thing. A poacher is a thief!
