Left the house, no wind but had rained some. Get about 20 miles from the club and the wind is pushing the truck around. I’m sitting through a rain shower but about to be wet. It’s almost go time. Good luck to everyone

This wind plus temps dropping a few few degrees till 9. Ain’t expecting much action

I just ducked into a ground blind to avoid getting wet. Wind and rain and I can’t hear nothing.

Wish I knew this was gonna happen I’d have slept. Already on my way home piss on this.

I rolled over and dozed back off this morning.
It was coming a flood at 4 a.m. Now the wind is howling.
I may make a mid-morning stroll.

I got someone walking my line and I’ll bet you he has owled 100 times in the last 45 minutes
Now 10 minutes later it’s raining and he still hooten lol

The silence in Pickens Co is deafening

Nothing but wind, then the rains came. I'm starting to think I'm on to some bad ju-ju.

Glad I slept in this morn. The sleep was nice

Live from work for me. Gonna spend the next 11.5 hours watching Netflix and monitoring plant operations... but mostly living bi curiously through you fellers shooting turkeys in the face.

This has been the coldest turkey season i can remember.

It was awesome. Today was the first time I have slept past 0415 that I can remember in a long time, and I feel like a new man.

Joker flew down at 5:50 and heard him spittin and drummin in the cornfield across prop line...made a move later in am and called his hens across the drainage ditch and he slowly but surely circled a few times till he came over! Thank the Lord the wind was blowing because I was shaking so bad with hens 5 yards behind me....50 yard shot with the new 20 ga and no click this time!

Temp dropped 14 degrees between the time I left the house and getting out to hunt. I haven’t heard anything but the wind rain.

#4 is down and hes a stud! 12 inch beard, 1 3/8 inch spurs and heavy.

4th day on this henned up son of a gun but 3 days in a row he did the same thing so I went to where he had been roosted and set up at 5 am and waited. His hens were roosted right over me but I was tucked in under a cedar.

I thought hed be on the other side of the field roosted in one of 5 trees along a creek but he opened up gobbling 80 yards behind me.

After fly down he did the same thing he had been doing the other 3 days and came out strutting with 5 hens. He got within 40 yards I pulled the trigger...MISFIRE!

Brand new box Winchester Longbeards. Dented the primer..no BOOM.

They all looked up..he came out of strut. Seemed like forever they looked right at me...but finally he went back into strut..I slid it open, let the Round out , got another ready to go..slid it forward and brought up quick and shot him just as he broke out of strut and got ready to run. JEEZ.

Great turkey and a great hunt. 4th bird on my new land and 1 trespasser so far, so a good year. Hopefully Ill get number 5 after this rain passes this Sunday. Going home to sleep for 2 dang days.

Congrats on the kills! I slept in this morning

Had a fun hunt but no dead turkey.
We called 3 gobblers and 6 hens 500 yds across a field. Couldn’t get them last 100 yds. I belly crawled when they went under berm of field. They went down the gully instead of up the hill. It was still a cool hunt.
I don’t get to fool with field turkeys much. My brother crawled moving a hen decoy and you could see the gobblers responding. You could watch them respond to calls too.
I never imagined they’d come that far. If we’d had fan, mighta had chance.
I told my bro “I bet you didn’t think your 51-year-old bro had a belly crawl like that in him, did you?
He brought me right back to earth.
“Your ass was kind of high,” he said.

Dang Anthony..I know that belly your crawling on , and it aint that small. It had to look to him like a Monkey humping a football....

I bet they stopped when one gobbler said to the other..." I dont remember that big hill in the field do you? And why is it MOVING?"

Turkeys didn’t cooperate this morning but we found something for dinner anyway!

Looks like momma and kiddos had a blast. Good times.
