Just had a textbook hunt. Two gobblers and a hen straight off the roost. Shot the lead bird through some brush at 30yds when the hen started putting, and boogered him up. Pretty damn sick about it

Called one up off the roost . Stutted behind a tree at 25 yd for about 5 minutes and a dang hen came up behind me and putted. Gobbler walked straight away from me staying behind the tree. Never saw him again.

Re: LFTW 3/28 - 03/28/20 03:04 PM

Got on one early. Called him to the ditch at 60 yards. He strutted and gobbled up and down that ditch for 15 minutes. He finally decided he had enough of me. He turned to leave and I let it fly. It rolled him over, but he got up and got his wings under him and hit the air!! Bird was actually around 65 yards and my shot took out several vines about 10 yards in front of him. Got on another one, but he was 200 yards through some freshly thinned pines and he didn’t want to play.

Re: LFTW 3/28 - 03/28/20 03:10 PM

Checked cameras on the way out this morning. These two jokers were strutting in this same spot at 5:00 sharp almost every day this week. I think I know where I’ll be this afternoon.

Finally killed him. He stayed in the tree until 9:15, but kept gobbling. Guess the tractor spooked him enough to hold him there. It worked out for us in the end. He pitched into a pasture and we called him through the open gate the tractor left. Gobbles in strutted the whole way in. Sat on him for 3 hours

Found one and he wins the Oscar for the show he put on. He just wouldn’t commit those last 30 or so yards. Good day to be out with my boy! He only gobbled 5-6 times but my ears are still echoing with all the drumming! We going back after him in the morning. Didn’t hear 1st gobble til 920.

Had another fun hunt. But it didn’t end with meat. My brother and I called up a gobbler and several hens at 12:30.
They’d been in a field below us. I was as shocked as could be when they closed the distance after an hour of calling to them. Needed them 10 yards closer.

I'm really envious of you guys that can hear drumming. I would love to experience that in person but I apparently can't hear that frequency range...

Re: LFTW 3/28 - 03/28/20 09:55 PM

Y’all gonna like this... me and a friend got to the lease just in the nick of time to set up
where we planned, Gobbled on the roost gobbled on the ground. Shut up and came to the field, skirted the outside edge
bout 45 yds. Came in on buddy’s side to shoot. Blowed up put on a show but wouldn’t gobble... I told him twice to shoot,
never shot.. he drummed off out of hearing and he says “boy that was fun”... I asked him “why in the heck didn’t you
shoot that bird.” His reply was “we’ve always killed a bird together I thought we’d try to get a double” what a pal.. told him
I couldn’t do the same for him I’d shot it if he told me too... never heard me say shoot but great experience... not always about
blood but it sure does seem that way.. CONGRATS KILLERS

I haven't been able to hear drumming for at least 20 yrs. I don't think I'd hear it if a turkey was drumming on my lap. Must be the frequency

That sucks. I left one somewhere on a place in South Dakota. Never found it despite hours of looking. I also spent 20 minutes Thursday morning trying to a striker I left by a tree on one of my set ups. Finally found it.

That seems to be the only frequency I haven’t lost yet. Cannot hear leaves crunching but can hear my phone vibrate from two rooms over.
