Nice video. Aint nothing like North Alabama. Hard terrain, Hard gobbling, and the hardest drumming birds to boot.

Great video. How close were you when you finally sat down? I was afraid you were going to get busted.

Re: New Vid- Mountain Turkey - 01/27/20 04:05 AM

Haha, thanks guys!

The barrel cam is a Tactacam. It was good when it worked. Most of the time the cap that covered the battery would pop off when I shot and the file it was recording would not be saved bc of power loss. Im not sure if I may have stripped the cap or messed it up somehow or if it was a design flaw but I spoke with Tactacam after the season and they sent me a new cap. Still need to try it out before this season. I used gorilla tape on the back of it and i think it helped on a hunt or 2 but ultimately it failed too.

Its hard to say how far I was when I sat down, but I really don’t think he was moving much when I was trying to sit down. I think he was in a road gobbling. Best I can remember he may have been about 100 when I sat down. But I was thinking I needed to be sittin my butt down when I was editing it so I know what you mean rofl

Re: New Vid- Mountain Turkey - 01/27/20 06:43 PM

7:06 AM..... “I’m just gonna sit here and let him think about it for a while”

7:07 AM...... “I’m gonna cut at him as soon as he gobbles again”. grin

I’ve laughed at that all morning since I watched it for some reason. Probably because I’ve said those exact 2 things 1 minute apart about 5 thousand times. Great video and congrats on a beautiful hunt and turkey. Your videos are so much better than anything on tv now. I don’t get excited watching a turkey strut up to a decoy on tv but I can feel my heart getting up in my chest when I’m trying to spot his head in the little box you have highlighted in your videos.
Congrats again!

Re: New Vid- Mountain Turkey - 01/27/20 09:36 PM

Hahaha. Thanks again guys! It all makes sense to me in the moment. I knew he heard me, but I didn't want to seem desperate. I let him gobble several more times and felt like it was the right time to get him excited. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sitting still and being quiet aren't my preference, even though that's how Dad taught me to hunt grin

1 min feels like 1hr in a lot of those setups. Dead is dead can’t argue about the results.
