Mounting scope base on single shot

Mounting scope base on single shot - 11/20/19 05:03 PM

Who can do it in or around the Huntsville area? Took it to one guy who said the cylinder walls are too thin. I’ve seen several that had it done so I think it may just be him not wanting to get into it. It’s a NEF pardner 12ga.

Incase anyone was wondering. I never could find anyone local that would do it. Emailed Sumtoy and he says he will. So i’m going to send the barrel off to him this week. I’ll post pics when I get it back.

How much will it end up costing you?

He said 70 bucks plus shipping. That is for the base and installation.

Gundoc can do it. He’s just outside of Bham

Actually a lot of gunsmiths won’t do them. I think I asked him about mine a few years ago. I’ve got a pretty nice ghost ring on my h & r with the help of a little jb weld

Not on a 12ga. As previously mentioned, the cylinder walls on a 12 ga are thin to start with. Without drilling through the chamber wall, you might get 4 threads - maybe. Not near enough to hold reliably.

I don't want the headache of trying to fix it later when the threads pull out after being bumped against something.

This will be the 4th season I've been shooting mine with jb welded sights. I removed the finish down to to steel on the barrel and sights and glued it. I have shot a dozen or so 3" shells through it since and it is solid. Fingers crossed but I really am confident that it will stay.

I've done more than a few that way that haven't come back. They were more experimental than anything and I didn't charge for them, but I haven't heard any negative reports.

Just got it back from Sumtoy. Ended up being 100 dollars total once you figure in shipping both ways.

I'll post up mine. Did they solder/alumaweld it?

From what I can tell it was just drilled and tapped.

Wish mine was as camo'd as yours. But it works just as well. I threw in a pic of the sight just for kicks.

Oh I didn't even notice the bolts. It looked to me like maybe there was some type of glue on the bottom. Like mine!
