Best Custom Made Call

I don’t hunt but my father loves it. I’m thinking about trying to get him a custom made call. So who’s the best to buy from,wood type, etc?

Box call or pot call?

I like the hen boxes made by Richard Hudson. I have one I’m waiting on from him now made out of Holly with a snakewood lid, but it’s something more as a gift for my daughter than something to hunt with. I have one I hunt with made out of Walnut, but it takes practice to get used to. I still aint good with it.

Wareagle22 used to sale pot calls. I have a slate that is my go to friction.

Anyone else wanna give me advice??

Old Crow Custom Calls out of Pensacola. Builds beautiful pots and boxes

Coys calls does some pretty cool customization and they sound good.

Lon Trice, Gary Anderson, Jimmy Schaeffer, Pat Strawser, David Halloran, Mark Cornelius, and that's all I can think off the top of my head. They're all making great pots and the wait time isn't too bad on any of them

Eddie Wynne persimmon slate is a good one too. You'll have to wait a while more than likely though

Good friend of mine owns Heirloom Game Calls. He's out of North Louisiana. Known him for many years and have numerous calls he made for me. He can make you whatever you need. His name is Brian Warner.

I recently got one of his boxes, it’s moved to the vest spot. I like it a little better than any other box I have so far.
