We’re on the way home from Oklahoma right now. Birds were still extremely henned up, but we filled 8 of 10 tags. We had 3 mishaps/snafu’s where we didn’t kill birds that should’ve filled the other tags. It was another great trip!!! Good luck to y’all

We struck out this morning, i believe we may have waited too late to come this year. Heard zero and finally saw three long beards on a power line feeding around. Paid us no attention when we called to them. This place has only been hunted three times this year. I’m not sure what’s going on. We are headed fishing this afternoon, it’s hard to chase a turkey in 85 degree weather.

What part of the state are you hunting? My outfitter in Northwest OK said it's been the worst season he ever had. He said that he had a normal number in the winter flocks, but they never gobbled much and now appear to be in their summer pattern. Doesn't sound very promising.

Southeastern part. A few miles from the red river.

I’m in Kansas now and it’s been tough as well. Only seeing jakes and very little gobbling. Wind was 28 mph yesterday and 38 degrees this morning. About to head out and the wind is blowing 20 mph. Don’t seem to be interested in the calls. Going to keep trying till we leave tomorrow.

Tough hunting in Nebraska as well. Tons and tons of jakes and no longbeards. We’ve killed the only two longbeards weve seenon places we can hunt.

Was a wierd year in Illinois. Turkey population seems less than half and hunters have doubled

Re: Official Triangle Turkey Tour Thread - 04/30/19 06:15 PM

Me and my brother doubled up this morning. We slept in because of thunderstorms this morning at daylight, we got up at 7 AM and got ready and on the way to our spot we spotted three gobblers strutting in a field with 4 hens. They were across the property line but luckily we had permission to hunt the land next-door. We set up close to the line and started calling and they answered us and eased towards us. They started circling around to our left and crossed the creek. Then the first one popped his head over the hill. I flipped the safety off and let the others get in good sight of my brother . I shot the first one, then my brother raised up and saw the second one and rolled him up. I stood up and saw two of the hens at 30 yards, but couldn’t see the third gobbler. It was an awesome hunt. His bird was 18 lbs 8 oz, 1 inch spurs, and 10 3/4 beard. And mine was a heavy bird, weighing 25 lbs 12 oz, 1 inch spurs, and 9 5/8 beard. Awesome hunt with my dad sitting beside us watching it all!

2 more went down this morning! EarlPitts and I are tagged out in Kansas! My hunt was amazing, i called 3 gobblers, 4 hens, and 3 jakes 300 yards to the edge of the river bank only to see them walk back and forth for 1.5 hours. They finally decided to pitch across the river and straight to my gun barrel. Amazing hunt. Heading to Missouri this afternoon for a three day hunt!
