Who treats their clothes with Permethrin?

Who treats their clothes with Permethrin? - 04/15/19 12:36 AM

Wondering how many of you turkey killas treat your hunting garb with Permethrin? If so, have you ever had any sensitivities to it? Itching, burning, bugs on skin sensation, that kind of stuff...

Friday, I picked up a gay tick that was just a little too interested in the shaftous region of my male genitalia. That's a no-go region for bugs. So, I went to the Co-Op and picked some up and have my duds soaking in a 0.05% solution of it now. Everything I've read says to let it air dry, so I hope it's done by tomorrow morning.

While I was in the military, our cammies were treated with Permethrin from the factory and it did a good job as I never once had a tick on me in over 8 months Quantico, VA - most of it in the summertime.

Sawyers is the best stuff I've found. Lasts a couple washing cycles I hang my clothes up outside and soak them let them air dry.

I use the sawyers too and I spray my clothes every time I wear them and I spray my skin too. Might kill me tomorrow, but I don't get ticks on me.

I found 4 ticks on me in early season so I bought sawyers! That stuff is the ticket I have a few sets of camp so I just sprayed em all down and let them air dry

I dont go to the woods without it. I love steak too much to risk not being able to eat it over a tick bite

Yes. And I tuck my camo pants into my hiking boots along with my shirt into my pants. I drop everything when I get home and do a mirror inspection. Pants, shirt, leafy suit, and boots are all treated with permethrin and air dried.

Been using it more than 20 years and never had a tick bite.

I do, mix it myself. I've never had any kind of reaction from it, and I've sprayed myself down with it alot.

I treated mine with Sawyers for the first time this year. So far I haven't found a tick on me nor have I had any type of reaction.

Yes, because every chigger in the woods will find me if I don't. I have two pair of Dickies light weight coveralls that are my work cloths at the camp and they get soaked once every month or so in a plastic tub, then the dogs go in for a flea dip. Being you got it at the co-op, it should be water base, watch out because most of the 36% termite chemicals are petro base and is not advised for use on clothing.

I do. I also spray my boots, my vest, my lounger chair, my fishing clothes, etc...

I buy the 10% Martin's Permethrin and mix it with distilled water.

Keep your Sawyers spray bottle and mix it to the same strength. Costs waaaaay less.

Just spray some Deep woods off on your junk. The burn just let's you know it's working!

I treat mine with it and don't wash them until the season is over

Ok y’all have me needing some of that stuff. We are headed to Kansas next week and I want to treat our clothes. This will be my wife’s first turkey hunt and I want her to enjoy it and not worry about ticks and chiggars. What is Sawyer’s and where do I pick some up?

Martin's 10% dont use the stronger petroleum based stuff and mix it 0.5% not 0.05%

An aerosol can of Sawyers cost about $8 a year. Not sure how much cheaper it can get. Also really easy

No way I could make a bottle of Sawyer's last all year. Between turkey season, working outside/in the woods, deer season prep, bow season, and treating my wife's and kids clothes occasionally, it goes fast. You can have a new bottle mixed in no time.

You can get Sawyer's at Academy, Walmart, etc. Might be round the camping stuff if not around hunting
