Missed #4 today dang it.

Well I decided on an early afternoon run and gun and walked a couple miles. I was doing the normal locator clucks every hundred yards or so and never heard nothing except one hen cluck. I passed her by and figured I'd go back by on the way out and work her if nothing else panned out on the off chance she had a gobbler with her.

Well I was beat and got to the very end of the property and gobbled with prototype box that Tony Reynolds made for me. Well a longbeard immediately gobbled from waaaay off (seemed like the next county). I sat down and got ready and hammered at him again a few minutes later to see where he was. He cut me off and was a lot closer maybe over the next ridge. I guess I miss judged his location cause he came over way up on the right maybe 125 yards away. It's open hardwoods though and hard to move around.

Well that joker came right in but at a goofy angle and if I let him get any closer he would have seen me swing around on him so I shot and missed what should have been #4. I will get after him in the morning and see what happens, though it will be tough as I'm less familiar with that part of the property so setting up will be tough in the dark. I think I will take the Ghost Blind since the woods are so open there.

I hope tony is paying you or at least giving you those calls for free because you are pimping the hell out of them!

He gives them to me but I'd gladly pay for them if he didn't. I don't think you'll find many guys that don't think he is a master at his craft. Heck, even Toxie Haas told me that he thought Tony was one of the best callmakers he has ever seen, and then he bought a bunch from me for his personal collection. Aldeer Box Call Thread LINK

If you would have cleaned that damn barrel and choke with denatured instead of raggedy hoppes you wouldnt have missed.

In regards to Tony's calls...I bought a couple of them from Tony and they are good calls, but there is none of them in my best anymore and I sold them off.

I hear he makes good calls...probably will never buy one though. But then again I don’t buy much of anything. I heard some interesting things about him.

He used to be a different guy for sure, before he was saved. He did a lot of stuff that he ain't proud of. Lots of skeletons. Like most of us he is the sum of all his flaws and good qualities as well. The man he is today is a good man with a heart of gold though.

I don't know him personally, but I will say other than Lyle from Houndstooth calls, Tony has been the most approachable call maker I have met. He has always treated me with respect from when I was an 8 year old boy till now in my upper twenty's when he resigned and tuned the call my mom bought me as an 8 year old from him.
