If this is the little single shot Pat's had one day before yesterday. Last one they had. I thought about buying it and trading it off but decided not to be like that

Scott's in Jay calls in to WPPG 101.1 and advertises on weekday mornings. I heard the store manager Jim Brown say that they had placed another order with Savage and another distributor also last week I believe. You might call them and get them to hold you one from the next shipment. I would ask to speak to Jim Brown or Mike Scott. Some of the sales people may only look at what the computer shows for inventory and not know about expected shipments.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do... just trying to help out.

That is interesting to say the least. Only 0.016" of constriction relative to a nominal barrel. By contrast, my little cheapo .410 turkey masher measures 0.377 and the Remington 870 .410 I had measured 0.375....which are the only two .410's I have ever gotten to pattern worth a flip.

This shotgun reminds me of a 6.5 Creedmoor. It won’t do a thing that any old pawn shop Stevens or Savage or FIE won’t do just as well or better but everybody is crazy over them. Only mistake savage made was marketing them too cheap. They should have asked $200 apiece for them. If it was a pound lighter and had a 22” barrel then they’d have something

Chad, from what I’ve seen there is some major inconsistencies in choke constrictions from gun to gun. I’ve read constriction numbers from .370s to .398

Re: Savage 301 Turkey 410 - 02/16/19 01:32 AM

After handling one of these little shotguns this evening I feel like I need to recant my previous statement..... the weight is perfect and it’s a well made feeling little gun. Bottom of the forearm is nice and flat so it will stay on your knee well. It has studs for a sling and a nice safety system. Front sight is elevated so you won’t be shooting high if you try to shoot with the bead as opposed to a red dot. . If the barrel was a little shorter it would be perfect.

Same thing as the 301 turkey, just black stocks and no rail. I got one with a 22” barrel and had gun doc drill and tap for me. Haven’t shot it yet, but I believe I’m gonna like it.

Just left Simmons. They still have some.

I now have to start loading shells. This gun is going to cost me a good bit, but it'll be fun!
