Is your turkey sightings down this year? - 02/22/18 02:21 PM
Where I hunt, I am used to seeing a ton of turkey during the deer season. We usually can't keep them off our fields and quite often can watch them fly to roost. Our sightings this year is way down.....like 70% down over last year. Is this just around our place in Cherokee County or have any of you noticed this on your hunting land as well? Thanks

I rarely ever see them in the fall. Come spring they roost all over my property.

For years I have had big flocks in green patches during winter, but the last few years have not seen a one.Does not seem to impact spring hunting though so no complaints.

I have no idea where they go in the winter but we rarely see any during deer season. They almost always show back up in the spring. Thank the good lord!!!

Thanks for the replies. I can assure you guys that I am not that "Chuck". If I had his $$ I wouldn't be worried about turkey sightings in Cherokee County. lol . Thanks again and good luck to all of you this year. It's just been a strange year for our turkey. Some other guys who hunt near here have said the same thing. We just quit seeing birds around Christmas for the first time in years.

They are still in large flocks 40 or more where I'm at and you may not see any for a few weeks. But I still see the sign where they come through and scratch up the woods or dust up a field.

I haven't been seeing many in person but my 4 cameras out don't lie and they are showing a good bit. It seems as if the groups of gobblers are inconsistent. One day there will be 2 gobblers the next day 4 and so on but around the same time so I am assuming it is the same birds just some went a different way. If this isn't the case then I have a tons of gobblers which would be even better!
