I thought turkeys were not colorblind?

I was in some hardwoods the other day wearing an orange vest. I was just standing there and turned around to see a jake coming up on me. He passed me roughly 30 yds away and acted like he didn't know I was in the world. Don't know how he could have missed me.

They can see colors well. He just didn't perceive you as a threat is probably what happened. Also hasn't sat through a hunting season yet.

I’ve had probably 10-12 withing 30ft of me before deer hunting from the ground and wearing hunter orange. Never paid me any attention but I wasn’t moving either other than to record it on my phone.

They don't miss a thing. They noticed the orange vest and knew you were deer hunting. And I promise, they can take 1 look and tell if you have a shotgun or a rifle. laugh
