Looking at lease in Shelby county around 500 acres. What should I lease turkey rights for?

It's all dependent on the timber that's there. Open pines and hardwood would bring $3 + an acre. That's rarely found, especially if it's Westervelt property.
If it's young pine plantation, it's almost useless except for hoping turkeys travel the roads from point A to B. Maybe 50 cents an acre.

I paid $350 for 1400 acres in perry county and $325 for 400 acres in Bibb so just depends. I'd be interested if you pm me

Correction to the 600 acres in Bibb it was 350-400 acres

Been part of 2 or so a year for the last ten years.
One was 600 acres for 500 split between 2. Another was 500 a year for 5000 acres and also hunted by members but only a few and rarely a sighting. Another was 500 for 1200 acres and I was the only one. And another was 500 a year for 3000 acres and shared with the members. None of the ones mentioned were over hunted.
These all seem fair to me. I would never pay some of the outrageous prices I have seen.

I shot a bird with 1-5/8 spurs off this land 8 years ago. First bird I ever killed. Didn't even know how good it was till later. Wished I would have mounted it.
