Question on a project. - 06/21/17 06:02 PM
I had built this earlier in the year after seeing something similar online for a mount I'm having done. I had been asked about making another one and was going to see what aldeer thought something like this would be worth? It's made from all cedar.

Man that looks good, not sure about a price but I wouldn't do it for nothing. I'm getting some cedar sawed myself and plan on making a few of them as well but just for some friends. I say at least a couple hundred dollars, prolly more if you're providing the stump as well. I hope mine turn out as well as yours, very nice work

Paging Whild Bill. I bet he wouldn't go hungry with his bow and a call like that.

Between that call and the crickets they don't stand a chance with him..
Thanks for the compliments just trying to decide if it would be worth it to make another. It takes a good bit of time sanding the stumps down and doing the wood burning.

Make the stump sit flat and sell them as end tables for hunting camps

I'm with Ben on price. Is it supposed to sit flat or tipped like in the pic.
sitting flat with one er two standing/strutting gobblers on top would be really nice.

Sitting flat you could make end and coffee tables in a man cave. Nice work, no idea on what you could sell them for.

I intended for this one to sit at an angle, although I may reduce the angle a little bit. It was just done the same way that I had seen a previous one done. Making one that sits flat wouldn't be any harder at all though. I hadn't thought of making one into an end table though.

If you are not sure on price then one way to find out what it's worth would be to auction it off. That will give you an idea on what it will bring for the next one you do

Fred I think the lid was around 26 inches, but I'll have to run over to the shop to know exactly. I'll be off Monday and will measure it then. It's just been a little while and a few projects ago so don't remember exactly.

Sorry hadn't looked back at this in a bit. I'm trying to find a few cedar stumps the right size at the moment. Most of the ones I have access to need a backhoe to get out. Here is that chair bench loco.

I bought tracing paper and then blew up an outline onto regular paper. After that just taped it onto the wood and traced the outline. It's not real hard at all.
