Call me crazy but I'm going out this morning. Gonna bait them with some towels I brought from home. Gonna put these towels out in a circle about 20 yards out. Good luck guys maybe they will move.

Hunting Freedom Hills this morning. I'm set up in the middle of some 5 year old cutover in the wide open. Already got a wet tail.

I need this rain my jerky is a little dry anyway.

I'm headed out after church.

I'm in Pickens hunting a small strip of mixed hard woods between two thickits.

OMG. I just shot an nice 8. I not sure about the shot. Gonna give him a while. Damn I'm shaking.

Stuck a doe with my recurve at 8. She was about 5 yards quartering away. Hit high cause she was so close but the arrow buried up half way. Shouldn't have went far. Going to give her a bit and take my dog back. Wish me luck

After 30 min I got down and looked at arrow. It's covered in blood. But I walked about 15 yards in the direction he went and don't se anymore blood. Not sure if I should keep walking in that direction or back out.



Not sure how long this rain is gonna hold off.

Typically a buck will only go a short distance after being arrowed. He'll stop and try to figure out what happened. If hurt he'll bed. If u can back off and let him bleed out.

Agree 100 percent give him a couple hours

About to go to my favorite spot. I havent hunted this spot for several weeks. Seen a nice 7, 8, and 9 in this spot. Missed on the 8 earlier in the season. Hopefully today is the day. This weather is my favorite to bowhunt in. Wish it was a little cooler though.

Flying back today, hope to be in a tree for a few hours starting at 8:15-8:30 tomorrow. Weather outlook for the last gun hunt in Cahaba isn't looking very good friday and Saturday, so I'll be working with the bow mostly the remainder if the season and stand locations since any west/nw is bad the bedding area I am on the edge of. Good luck out there today, stay safe as I imagine the trees ought to be slippery

Well my hunt never got started. I'm an idiot. Something didnt look right with my peep sight so I drew back to check the alignment, and when doing so something popped and my string jumped off the track essentially causing a dry fire. When that happened somehow the string cut my middle finger down to the bone. Ouch!

Sitting at American Family Care now waiting to get stitches.

I'm sure my bow is screwed. Good luck to everyone else!

Dang jbs, hope you recover quickly.

Hate to hear that JBS. You may already know this, but go over both limbs with a fine-tooth examination. You can have a tiny crack that's unseen by the naked eye that could end up doing serious damage later. Good luck healing...

Great deer, good shooting! Once u kill a rack buck with a bow something changes in u. The woods get smaller. U become a part of them. Give us details on the recovery when u catch your breath.

Ps, makes me want to climb a tree.

JBS, that sucks! I had a small twig get between my string and cam one time that caused it to jump off.

Just got back home all stitched up and got to inspect my bow. I definitely have at least one of the split limbs with a crack in it. I hope my season isn't over! Who could have me put back together with new limbs and string by new years? Shaw maybe? I'm so depressed right now.

TR62 it was either something like you said that derailed my string or it was my cam. This is my 3rd cam on this mathews creed in less than a year. The past 2 were defective and mathews replaced them for me. This cam is an XS cam on the original creed. I guess they gave up on the creed cam.

Got a nice cull buck today with the new Elite 32. 26 yards quartering away at 3:30. Rage passed thru right lung, cut his heart in half and came out brisket. Deer ran 30 yards.

Thanks guys. At about 9: 00 I hit the grunt call a couple of times. Just a few seconds later this buck came trotting straight towards me. At12 yards he turned broad side and I let the arrow fly. I had to shoot between two trees and hit him just a tad back. My arrow had dark red blood on it. I figured it was liver so I decided to give him a little while. After lunch me and my Dad went to look for him. We found him pretty quick. He probably went 60 yards. When field dressing him I could see that I did get liver and also one lung. I've never had one come in to a grunt call like that. It was pretty cool.

good stuff. I got to experience calling one in for the first time this year and there aint nothin like it!
