LFTT 11/20/14 - 11/20/14 07:01 AM

Hunting a big creek crossing 40 yards from bedding area. Nice morning not to cold and not to hot and very light winds.

Re: LFTT 11/20/14 - 11/20/14 07:35 AM

I'm muzzleloader hunting a field that's about 300 yds from the camp. Nobody has been in this field since we planted it in September, so hopefully a buck will ease through here this morning.

Good luck, JD!

Bowhunting between a plot some oaks and a creek bed. Nothing like hunting in bear country and walking into to your climber to find where a bear has torn the seat out lol

Set up in my Lone Wolf in some thinned pines not far from a bedding area. Hope to catch big boy slipping back through on his way to bed.

Set up on a logging road separating a cutover and a pine thicket. Good funnel created by tornado damage where I'm at. Got here a little late and one was standing 40 yards from my tree. Bucks only today for me. Good luck guys!

Hit my first one. Shot was high above the vital area and the arrow stuck. Can't find any blood. It was a buck so I would like to find it. Any pointers or it may just be a lost cause without a blood trail

well at 2:45 i turned my blind back right side up.. dumped the water out.. sat down, grabbed my release to put on, looked up and a buck was 30 yards on the field staring at me. by the time I knocked my arrow he had fed past where I could shoot. Never made so much noise in my life prior to that.

Re: LFTT 11/20/14 - 11/20/14 08:39 PM

I was walking in to my stand and ran into a sounder. I ninjed up to 40yds but couldn't close due to a shift in the wind. When that happened one of them huffed and they split. As I was climbing I heard what sounded like a boar chasing a sow. That went on for about 30 minutes everything went silent. No bacon today. I left the climber for a return trip in the morning. Maybe the longbow will come thru with bacon.

Couldn't find my deer and never found blood. Going try to do another search tomorrow but my hope is down really have nothing to go off other then I know for sure I seen him at about 80 yards still running strong with a arrow in him...... After research I think I hit "no mans land" bow hunting is a curious thing. Almost tempted to leave the gun at home till I get ahold of one

I'd try to call someone in with dogs before you tromp around the area too much since you're having trouble finding blood.

Re: LFTT 11/20/14 - 11/20/14 10:23 PM

Well I set up in a hardwood draw this morning and saw 20 deer. All does and little ones. I set up this afternoon on a foodplot. I got there at 1:00pm because I expected the deer to move early. At 3:00 I had a doe come out but she only stayed about 2 minutes because 3 longbeards came up the draw behind me and she evidently didn't like the sound of them walking in the leaves. At 4:15 two bucks came out from my left. The squirrels on my right were making noise in the leaves so I was looking to the right and when I looked back at the field the bucks were standing there. One was a small 3pt the other a messed up 8pt. I started not to shoot them but its two days from gun season and I haven't killed a deer yet. Besides I have never killed a buck with a kicker point before. He was 35yds and starting to feed away so I took the shot and made a perfect double lung shot. I made sure I stayed away from the shoulder this time. He has a kicker on the right and double brows on the left. He's no monster but a decent buck for a bow kill.
