LFTT 11/3/14

This morning I'm set up on some select cut hardwoods with white oaks and red oaks on the ground in Bankhead National Forest. Got loggers about 400 yards away could be a noisy morning. Good luck to yall today.

I'm set up in a small stand of hardwoods on a ridge beside a cutover. Been seeing a lot of activity through here. Good luck yall.

Me and Emmett are back on the finger ridges again. He is on the middle ridge where he shot the 8pt Saturday and I'm on the south ridge. I love seeing the woods wake up on a cool November morning.

I had a long walk in to a spot I've been wanting to hunt where I found a bunch of hot sign last week and I'm hunting off the ground.
I had about a ten minute stretch right at 7:00 where the sun was in my eyes so badly I literally couldn't see to shoot at all. Naturally that's when the deer came in. Got between me and that big red oak in the middle of the picture at about 20 yards and finally got a bit nervous and eased off. I can see good now hopefully I'll have another group come thru.

Knock one down...

Damn, that was a close call. Something spooked some turkeys down in the creek bottom and a damn gobbler flew in and nearly landed in my lap.

Well, Emmett wouldn't let me leave early and head to the house. It's been an adventure today, that's for sure. Emmett stuck his 4 wheeler in the creek when we went in to get my buck out and it was some kind of fun getting it out.

I set up on a foodplot on the edge of a cut over and some planted pines. Maybe a nannerhead will be stupid enough to step out. Don't really care. My season is pretty much made now with what has happened since Saturday. Got to see Emmett get his first bow kill buck in a long time and to top it off he was hunting near me this morning when I shot that one. He heard the arrow hit him. All this and I'm only one third day of vacation.

Seen 3 this morning. Shot a small buck around 8. Waiting on my dad to come help me look for him. Not sure on the shot. I know I got guts just hope I got far enough for some vitals
