Bow set up help - 11/03/14 12:30 AM

Newer to bowhunting. Addicted. moving from a 2007 bear truth to a new bear motive 6. I would like help with what arrow weight would be best to maximize speed but also produce good KE. Im shooting a carbon express and nap spitfire combo at 450gr currently. Broadheads are 125. im going to shoot 70lb and 30 inch so speed should come easy as the IBO is 350. Id like to shoot 320ish all set up. Help!

I've been bowhunting and setting bows up for a while now, so let me give you a little advice. When it comes to a bowhunting rig, don't get caught up in the speed craze. The two most important things you want out of a hunting rig are accuracy and quietness. The best piece of advice I can give you is drop your draw weight to about 65#. You don't need to pull 70# to kill a whitetail. Dropping the weight will make the bow tune easier, which will make it more accurate and with less energy being dispersed at the shot, it will be quieter.

With your draw length being so long I would look at getting a 300 spine shaft and dropping your broadhead weight down to 100gr. With that long of a shaft you will be fighting weak spine issues and that is a big no no when it comes to a hunting rig.
