Re: LFTT 10/31 - 10/31/14 06:52 AM

I'm hunting with a buddy this morning in Cullman County...It came a quick rain shower on our way to the property, but we're in the clear now. I'm on an oak flat, about 75 yds off the edge of a cut soybean field. I jumped 3 different deer coming in before daylight.

Good luck, everyone!

25' up a pine on the edge of a fresh clear cut. Pine thicket on one side of me and a few oak scattered around me. First hunt this year for me and boy does it feel good to be in a tree. Beautiful, chilly morning! Now if only the deer cooperate...

Re: LFTT 10/31 - 10/31/14 08:24 PM

Well I screwed the pooch. Had 2 does and a yearling come in the field and work there way to me. I drew as they got in range but they picked me up in the tree and had a 5 min stare off. One of the does finally made it to a hole broadside and I was so shake from being drawn that long I skipped across her back. They ran out in the field and a few min later she came back. When she cleared a limb I was drawn and she stopped and I let it fly. She turned to run and the arrow drilled her in the ear. She hit the ground and flopped for a while and I shot under her laying on the ground. I watched her get up and fall over and get up around a few yards till she got to the wood line. I got down and got to ten yards and released another arrow at her back but she bounced at the same time and it skipped across her ribs. She ran around 75 yds and crashed and I went to get the dog and something more fitting. We trailed her and may have seen her but not sure it was the same deer. Maybe I can find her in daylight what y'all think?

What do I think? I don 't think you could've made up a story better than that, if you tried. grin

I hope you find it. It should be easy to tell which one it is. It'll be the one with an arrow in it's ear. crazy

Re: LFTT 10/31 - 10/31/14 08:38 PM

I almost videoed it brad but I was trying to figure out my next step. All she has left is the broad head she broke the arrow off flopping in the field.

This has my vote for LFTT post of the year. grin Hope you find her.

I pulled a double on a couple of nannerheads one evening. The second one was quartered away when I took the shot. She hit the ground like a bag of bricks. She didn't even quiver. My arrow hit her in the back of her head between her ears and exited through her left nostril.

I have not even read one that pitiful on archerytalk.

Hope you find her. She's probably cross-eyed and banging her head against a tree right now with the arrow induced mental retardation.

4 of us went and scoured the woods where the last blood and found little blood and no deer. I guess she will either live deaf in one ear or become yote food.
