If you bow hunt long enough it happens. I shot one last year a little high. Complete pass through but no blood. She ran into thick brush and I had no trail to follow.

One of those mornings....y'all ever get up a tree and realize you ain't gonna be able to sling no arras more than 5 yards cause of how thick it is? That was me this morning, I was pretty loud on my descent and it took me a bit to find another one. Felt like it messed my whole morning. Next week awaits. Good luck everyone going out this afternoon.

I'm in a thick, primarily water oak hollow (like an SMZ for you pine plantation hunters), between a super-thick swamp and planted pines. It's raining water oak acorns in here and I spotted a nice rub on my way in...this is "close quarters", so I've really gotta be on my toes. Good luck, everyone!

Re: LFTT 10/17 - 10/17/14 07:43 PM

I saw a lone doe this afternoon and had her at less than 10 yds for 5 minutes. She had me pegged (I was wide open on that side), but I was finally able to draw. She froze whenever I drew, but I needed her to take one more step to clear a limb. I stayed at full draw for 30-45 seconds, but instead of her taking that one step, she took off trotting...was a great hunt! I was tore up when she was right there in my lap!
