My Ft Campbell hunt - 09/30/14 09:04 PM
I finally got around to uploading the pics from my hunt. I had a great time and I will be back in November. It is a BIG PIA to hunt there. I am Active Duty and never got my # 1 area. I get get to harvest my doe to earn my buck while I was there. It wasn't real big but I was still excited about it. I got just as excited shooting this deer as I do any buck! There is just something about have a deer at 20ish yards and harvesting it with a bow.
It was our second day there we got to the spot we wanted to go in at and headed in. We went in blind. My buddy walked in found a trail and liked how it "looked"(it was still dark) and walked in to the right. I walked on down found an old creek bed and walked up it and noticed some deer trails and that there were lots of good trees to climb so I picked one and climbed to about 30. At about 0630 I heard a deer walking in from across the creek bed. I grabbed for my range finder and it wasn't there it was still in the truck! She walked and stopped for awhile then finally into the creek bed. I estimated her at 25 yards. i had already dawn and noticed she was quarrying away hard. I felt comfortable with the shot and squeezed the trigger. The arrow went in the last rib and exited right behind the front right shoulder. She went 30 yards and I heard her fall.
Anyway here are some pics!
