Rangefinder - 07/20/14 08:12 AM

I've decided to do some bow hunting this year and may buy a rangefinder. I'd like to keep the cost below $150. It will be strictly for bow use so I don't need one thats good to 1000 yards. What do y'all recommend at that price point?

These two choices will serve your purpose, but they are a little more than $150. Going to be tough staying under $150 on a good rangefinder unless you happen up on a used one.

Bushnell Sport 550

I have a Bushnell that I've had for about 15 years. I use it every time I bow hunt.

I skeptically bought this one last year and have been very pleased after a season of use.Its very accurate and the 6 power is nice to use as a monocular to check for spikes.

I had that 1. It said it would range 400 yards. It would not hit 400 if you threw it of a mountain!!! I gave it to a friend. Get a Zeiss Victory 8x26 rangefinder at cameraland for 529! thumbup

For long range rifle shooting Id invest more in one. For bow hunting its fine, real compact too.

You should have no problem finding a good rangefinder used on the Archery Talk Classifieds Forum. I got a Nikon Archers Choice with ARC for $120 a couple months ago.

Nikon has exellent glass. I have a 2.5x10x56 Nikon Monarch 30 mm I like very much. I HAD a nikon 1200 rangefinder, it fell of the hood of the truck and never worked again. If you dont drop a Nikon, it should make a fine rangefinder! grin

I picked up a $120 Simmons at Walmart a couple of years ago. For the ranges I shoot its great.

+1 for nikon. I have one with the arc. Get a good retention system that will hang it out of the way of your draw and your neck while climbing in and out of your stand. They make an awful racket when hitting climbing sticks. I put one arm through the lanyard and it hangs under my right armpit. Out of the way of my draw and easily acquired when needed
